wulfgar hammerfist
So I attended a small 2500pt tournament at my FLGS. There were 12 players in attendance. Although Lords of War were allowed, not many players brought one. There was a Revenant Titan, a Chaos Reaver Titan, a Baneblade and a few players brought Imperial Knights. My list was a Logan Drop Pod List: Logan Grimnar Rune Priest LL, Jaws Rune Priest LL, MH, melta bombs Wolf Priest plasma pistol 5 PAWG - 5 combi-plasma 1 TDAWG - combi-plasma, power axe 1 TDAWG - HF, power axe Pod 6 PAWG - 6 combi-plasma 1 TDAWG - combi-plasma, power sword 1 TDAWG - HF, power axe Pod 6 PAWG - 6 combi-plasma 1 TDAWG - combi-plasma, power sword 1 TDAWG - HF, power axe Pod 5 PAWG - 5 combi-melta 1 TDAWG - combi-melta, power axe 1 TDAWG - HF, power axe Pod 5 PAWG - 5 combi-melta 1 TDAWG - combi-melta, powers word 1 TDAWG - Assault Cannon, power sword Pod 4 PAWG - 5 combi-flamers 1 TDAWG - combi-flamer, power sword 1 TDAWG - Cyclone Missile Launcher, power sword Pod Dreadnought - MM, HF Pod Dreadnought MM - HF Pod 6 Long Fangs - 5 MM Pod Game 1 vs Tau: Purge the Alien (From Memory) Farsight and six Crisis Suits w/ plasma and fusion guns Long Strike in a Hammerhead Ethereal 4 x 12 Fire warriors 2 x 5 Pathfinders 2 x Riptides 5 x Broadsides in two squads Aegis My opponent castled up inside of his aegis bunker with the FWs and broadsides. Longstrike was on his left flank and the Riptides were out front to run interference. It was a good game. I was able to torch most of the FWs with HFs and combi-flamers and killed most of his army. Farsight did pretty well and managed to kill two packs between shooting and CC. I was able to keep pressure on him and distract him away from shooting at my pods. Space Wolves 14-9. Game 2 vs Grey Knights w/ Inquisition Allies (From Memory) Castellan Crowe Coteaz 2 x Techmarines w/Orbital Strike 2 x Land Raiders 5 Purifiers w/2 Incinerators 5 x Purifiers w/2 Psycannons 10 x Purifiers w/4 Psycannons 2 x Psyfle Dreads Vindicaire 2 x 5 Terminators This game had five objectives worth two points each. He started with Coteaz attached to the large purifier squad bunkered in some woods with the dreads behind it with a techmarine, vindicaire and Crowe. The other techmarine hid behind the LRs. I had placed my objectives with a plan in mind to drop mid-field and make him come to me. I had the first turn and proceeded to completely forget about my plan and dropped into the jaws of Coteaz. I misunderstood what "I've been expecting you..." allowed him to do and I took a lot of unnecessary casualties to my stupidity. First Blood to him on my turn as the psycannon toting purifiers wrecked face. Over the course of the game I managed to play defensively and distract him away from objectives as much as possible but the game went the full 7 turns and I didn't have enough left to hold him off. We mauled each other pretty well and the score was Grey Knights 6-2. He had two objectives, First Blood and Slay the Warlord. I held one objective. Game 3 vs Flesh Tearers (From Memory) Chaplain w/10 Death Company in pod Corbulo w/10 Assault Marines in pod Furioso in pod 10 Assault Marines w/priest 2 x Predators with a plasma cannon turret (FW) Knight Paladin Knight Errant Aegis This was easily the game I enjoyed the most. My opponent was a cool guy and we played to have fun. There were four objectives of which we each placed two. One had to go in our own deployment zones and one had to be placed 12 inches from our own deployment zone in no man's land. I had the first turn and dropped 2 dreads, 1 melta pack, 1 plasma pack and the flamer pack. The idea was to seize two objectives and contest the one in his deployment zone. He shot his interceptor at the plasma pod but only put one glance on it. I killed one predator with the dread, killed the Knight Paladin with the melta pack and put a dent in the assault squad behind the ADL with a combination of HF and plasma fire. He dropped in the Furioso behind a dread and dropped Corbulo and company on the objective in my DZ. It was a see-saw battle but I was able to inflict more damage and seize all four objectives, first blood and line breaker. Victory to the Wolves 15-1. So I went 2-1 on the day with 31 Battle Points which was good enough for second place. The top army was Eldar with a Revenant Titan, wraithknight and a bunch of wave serpents. He won convincingly with 52 BPs. All in all, it was a day of good games against three great opponents. Rift Blade
Glad you had a good showing & some fun. Thanks for the summary. Good to see that the Wolves are still a force to reckon with. Did you deploy your LF by pod or set them up on the table top? wulfgar hammerfist
Thanks for commenting. The LFs went in a pod along with Logan. It worked well for me when combined with fire control and allowed me to deal with heavy targets fairly easily.
