aura_enchanted
Hey there I'm wondering how to go about painting the cloth parts of marine scouts. I'm using citadel paints and hand brushing. So those who are using airbrushes will not be helpful. (and I won't be buying one) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289901-space-marine-scout-clothy-bits/ Share on other sites
mactire
I take it your using Caliban green for the armour plating and black combat boots, I would go with a lighter green or khaki colour for the cloth and then add camo using this technique - paint little green/brown triangles at different angles and dot with three black dots in an opposing triangle. This sounds stupid, I will try to post a pic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289901-space-marine-scout-clothy-bits/#findComment-3659389 Share on other sites
mactire
Back with some pics, hope these make it clearer than the previous rambling attempt. I think light green/khaki for the cloth then dark green/brown for the spot colours and then the black dots to break up the pattern. I hope the pics make it clear what I meant about the dots at an alternative angle to the spot colour triangle. Hope this helps. Forté
Few questions first. 1. Which Chapter? 2. What style basing? City, wooded, etc. 3. Are you looking for one colour fatigues or camouflage? Reason I ask this is that the GW way of painting a scout is personally going to get them spotted and shot far to easily. Nothing easier than spotting a blue and cream Ultrasmurf in a green and brown forest. I simply did administratum gray with a wash in nuln oil and then a highlight Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289901-space-marine-scout-clothy-bits/#findComment-3660052 Share on other sites
Forté
Nothing wrong with that. If you look at camo on Google you'll find lots that is basic anyway. When I get round to my scouts I'll be doing camo on the armour and a more faded camo on the fatigues. battle captain corpus
I would agree that if youre looking for inspiration camo wise then Google Image is your friend! Mostly I do the fatigues etc in a similar style to my bases colour wise, that way they tie in nicely!
