Marshal Rohr
If you had to approximate what colors would you say are most similar to AP gun metal and plate mail? corai
Lead belcher and iron breaker. But they're more shiny/metallic if that makes sense. The AP stuff is duller. Worse for normal metrics but better for the darker under painting sections IMO Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289905-heresy-era-imperial-fists-metallic-colour-scheme/page/2/#findComment-3660965 Share on other sites
corai
While I'm here, does anyone ( in general or with extermination) know if the red helmet with white stripe is still a thing for heresy era fists sergeants? I've got a cataphractii squad on my desk ready for yellow glazes but I don't want to do the helmet of the sergeant if I need to get that metallic red Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289905-heresy-era-imperial-fists-metallic-colour-scheme/page/2/#findComment-3660980 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
Yes, sir. Red helmet and white stripe is a way of denoting Veteran Sergeants, even in 30k era. Marshal Rohr
Why not do matte red paint to make it look like the armor is a ceramite alloy that is gold, and the red paint is applied over that? Emperor's Furor
Yes, sir. Red helmet and white stripe is a way of denoting Veteran Sergeants, even in 30k era. Only after Calth though, it was in fact a form of censor in the ultramarines. Marshal Rohr
Not according to Extermination. It was always how they denoted veteran sergeants. Marshal Rohr
The Ultramarines might've had a different marking system in place. Red helmets for sergeants, black for heavy weapons, white stripes are veterans. Tyrannicide
By late GC/HH all the Legions have their own markings and armor personalization in place. For example, the Fists also use a stylized chevron and diamond pattern to denote squad leaders. Iron Warriors seem to have as well, though in different applications on the suit. Ultras are an entirely different world when we're talking insignia. These are Legions, not Chapters following guidelines. corai
Your under painting may be too dark. The brighter the metals are before the wash, the better. Use the darker metal colours to add depth but do it sparingly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289905-heresy-era-imperial-fists-metallic-colour-scheme/page/2/#findComment-3661887 Share on other sites

I'm considering using RT markings on all my squads now, with the exception of the mushroom cloud which looks far less imposing than the new destroyers symbol. corai
The Legionnes Astartes are the strong right arm of The Emperor's Crusade. And we are his Fist! Captain Anvillach addressing the 34th Company aboard the Bridge of The Gotterdammerung Still awaiting basing, but the first squad of terminators are almost ready to join the good fight. MakoBoy88
These marines are beyond lush. There needs to be a new word. Your terminators are incredible.Having literally today deciding that I am going to start an IF 30k force, this is going to be alot of inspiration. Especially to stand out from the regular Matte Yellow armour armies on the table.May i ask though. possible when you do your next marine to post up some WIP shots? Also, did you do all the yellow first, then the black and silver trim, or vice versa? Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work. Millicant
Fantastic. Wow. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try this out for a few marines - I love trying awesome paint schemes. Any chance I can trouble you for the other colors used? Is the rest of the metal just the "base coat" metals without the washes? What about the rest? Wow again. These are stunning.
