Heresy Era Imperial Fists - metallic colour scheme

Sexiest Fists ever. Really, hands down.

If I could be so bold as to point something out that looked a bit off to me (I hate to sound so presumptuous) it would be the little laurel on the right leg of the first marine you posted on page one. The laurel, which would look fabulous on any other paint scheme, is kinda lost on top of the gold. Perhaps a silver or even green might make that detail pop a touch more? Of course, its an amazing model, and that is just a very small observation I'm making

Topic Followed!

Mate your stuff is impeccable! Working on some HH Templars to accompany the Sigismund model when it's released, I will be drawing much inspiration from you sir! well done!

now... MOOOOOAAAAARRRRRR... Pleeeeaaaaaase :)

Thanks Fraters!

I know what you're saying, but I decided to leave it just gold like it was embossed detailing on the armour (like you see on a lot of artwork for the emperor) rather than detail grafted on (I was also not trying to pull focus from the more traditionally heresy sections like the chest and helmet). If I were going to use the model as a character I'd probably do more but he's destined to end up as the sergeant of a support squad I think so he doesn't need too much bling!

Soon...soon. I've got another 5 termis on the painting desk waiting for a dry day to undercoat and after that I'm torn between doing a 10 man breacher squad with a dreadclaw as a ride, or a 10 man THSS termi squad using the phoenix guard terminators as the base (lovely detail, already have loin cloths and knightly helms), lopping off the eagle wing on the shoulder (replace with templar or grey knight tilt shield) and sculpting a chest tabard to connect with the loin cloth for some heresy era Templar tartaros termis to run around with Sigismund.

These are pretty special, man. Can't wait to see that Praetor with a bit of paint on him!

Mind sharing how you get that lovely rust effect on the bases? Looks awesome.

It's deceptively simple. The base is all given a basecoat of leadbelcher. Washed with nulnoil. Drybrushed with leadbelacher and ironbreaker and then pinwashed with the new oxide wash (who's name escapes me, the turquoise verdigris one). Then another drybrush of ironbreaker and onto the typhus corrosion. Liberally on the bottom of the base, pinwashed on the rest. Finally stipple Charadon granite, then black to get blast effects and stipple Ryza rust over prominent sections to diffuse it.

Hope that helps

Been a while since I've done any of these as I've had some square based deadlines come up. I have started painting Captain Anvillach and his termi friends, but in the meantime I've been knocking out a few counts as conversions too:

Lets start with the big man, Rogal Dorn:

It's just a counts as until FW gives us an official model so I wasn't too concerned that the chest detailing isn't accurate etc, it'll do as a get me by until then

And what would Lor Dorn with out his first Captain?

This is a ridiculously simple conversion for Sigismund. I wanted somethign which will work, but which I won't feel bad about shelving once an official mdoel come sout, so when FW release their Sigismund, this guy gets relegated to a templar brethren or legion champion

Speaking of Templar Brethren

I'm really happy with these guys. I'm planning another 5 using the same mdoels but drilling out the bare heads and adding mre FW legion helms. Hopefully these will see some paint after I finish the terminators!

Thanks

Dan

Thanks guys biggrin.png

I even got a rare chance to run themacross a table last night. The shiney new paint job must have offered some extra protection as I seemingly couldn't fail anarmour save and the traitorous turn coats were gleefully swept beneath the feet of the VII!

Corai, I am EAGERLY awaiting any time that you apply this brilliant scheme to some vehicles.  I'd love to see how it turns out, as well as get your feedback on how to make it work.

If I haven't already expressed it - these are incredible.  I'm working hard to imitate you right now, actually.  Don't worry - I will definitely be sending credit your way for this scheme.

Thanks :-D

I'm hoping to get back to these ASAP. I've got only a handful of grey knights left to paint before I can get back to full speed Imperial fists, especially as I need 2.5K fully painted for the campaign weekend in April (link in sig if anyone else wants to attend)
