Dark_Apostle_XVII
So, I was just wondering if anyone has actually bought the new Ogryns/Bullgryns kit yet? Been Googling for pictures of others peoples takes on this unit since it's release and found nothing. Already planned mine for when they arrive but would love to see what everyone else is doing with them as I really like the set (apart from the horrific bare heads but I only want the gas mask ones anyway). So if anyone's got any pics or links yet, please do share. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/ Share on other sites
Andhil
I got some pics on my thread, but I'll put them up again, for your viewing pleasure! http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv325/Elcundil/Golgotha%20Crusade/S1032558.jpg Bought and build on saturday, painted by sunday, and saw action on monday. Love the models, and I will be getting more at some point. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/#findComment-3659946 Share on other sites
Minsc
Nice looking, but I can hear those Bullgryns screaming out for some washes and/or some highlighting. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/#findComment-3659952 Share on other sites
Andhil
Sadly I don't like highlights, and I don't have unlimited funds, so washes aren't an option ATM. I want me a Wyvern first. I also try to do the best I can with rather basic painting techniques. They don't need to win competitions, they just need to look awesome on the field. Dark_Apostle_XVII
Cheers Andhil!! Looking good. Nice to see someone else who loves the models. I think I'll go for the maul and shield look though, it's what sold them to me. How did they fair on the tabletop? battle captain corpus
Andhil cheers for the pic, its great to actually see them in the flesh! As a side note, you can easily make some great washes at home, just adding a good amount of water to an existing colour. Then apply a couple of coats to see how it looks. GW do the Lahmian Medium which helps you create your own washes too. Just a handy thing! :D BCC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/#findComment-3660385 Share on other sites
Andhil
My Bullgryns did good on the field. The smashed some Seekers of Slaanesh of the board, and then charged a Bloodthirster. Which they got down to one wound before dying horrible deaths. I proxied 3 Maul guys too. Mixing them up seems to work, especially with a Priest for extra efficiency. Re-roll to hit AND (a possible) re-roll to wound? I'm planning on getting some Maul guys later. But that could take some time as I'd like a Wyvern too. New releases are always hard. The Yak
Very nice. Is that a Blood Pact army you have there? It looks superb. I really like the bedraggled guys with the flagellant legs and ripped hoods. Have you got a WIP thread as Id love to see your army progress. The horns on the Bullgryns look brilliant. keep it up mate EDIT: Its ok I found it haha it was the next post down Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/#findComment-3663271 Share on other sites
Dark_Apostle_XVII
Thank you. No actually, I took some inspiration from the Blood Pact though. They are a traitor regiment of my own devising, unnamed as of yet but designed to be used alongside my Word Bearers. The red fatigues ties the two armies together but the rusted armour of the guard gives variety, and I like the look. Cheers mate, I was really pleased with the flagellant ones (used as conscripts or cultists) and the priest as I feel they represent the zealous, fanatical nature of the word bearers well. Whereas from the Bullgryns and Leman Russ I wanted to touch upon the Daemonic influences of the Word Bearers with the horns and possessed tank (represented by the tentacle forcing it's way out the turret and the chained up hatches). But yeah, that's just a little bit about the direction the army is going, it is nice to hear people are liking it so far though. Really inspires me to keep working. Haha, no worries, I am glad you found it okay :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289922-bullgryns/#findComment-3663302 Share on other sites
Shuggnuggath
These are my Bullgryns, I converted the maul wielders from leftover bits of the kit and some fantasy ogres + greenstuff. I used them in a game for the first time last night. They were a squad of 5, with 3 slab shield, 2 mauls, the bonehead was one of the maul users. The squad was accompanied by Yarrik, a priest and a lvl 2 psyker. In the game vs Imperial Fists they saw off two big rhino squads in a multi charge and smashed a third tactical squad on a central objective. The bonehead, and the other characters survived the game, the other bullgryns died valiantly doing their bit.
