Droz
Greetings Wolfbrothers, So I have taken about 3 years or so off from Warhammer 40K and am just looking to get back into it. I have an extensive force of Wolves already at my command but I'm looking at some of the new 6E stuff that has come out and thinking how much fun it would be or practical to add some of the following to my roster. Stormtalons Stormravens Thunderfire Cannons Stalkers Hunters Devastor Squads My main question is has GW made any official rulings on whether these units are available to the Sons of Russ or is it up to opponents whether they will allow them in friendly games. Hail Droz, and welcome back to the Fang! Pull up a chair and a flagon! Adeptus Astartes Stormwing Formation: 1 Storm Raven, 2 Stormtalons. Thunderfire Cannons, Stalkers, Hunters and Devastator Squads are going to be Allied detachments from a force of Space Marines, from same said Codex. Otherwise, there's nothing out for the Space Wolves 6th Edition Codex yet; and, I have yet to hear rumors. Therefore, hope this helps. Edit: http://www.blacklibrary.com/games-workshop-digital-editions/Dataslate-Adeptus-Astartes-Storm-Wing.html - The Stormwing Formation link; it's actually rather good to get, if you need Flyers. That, or the Storm Eagle, which is from Forge World. DobbyKroket
Then sorry, not in this codex. you could just make them and paint them as space wolves, ally them in and call em space wolves Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289975-cant-find-this-question/#findComment-3663071 Share on other sites
Valerian
Droz, The short answer to your questions is that if it isn't in the Space Wolves codex, then you can't take it as a part of your primary detachments. Exceptions to this rule are and Dataslates that say that Space Wolves can take them, and ForgeWorld units that say Space Wolves can take them. However, you can still access these units through the Ally process that is described in the 6e Rulebook. Space Marines from Codex: SM are "Battle Brothers" with Space Wolves, so our mutual capabilities mesh well. Thus, you can ally-in any of those units that you were asking about, as long as you meet the requirements established in the rulebook for doing so. You then can choose to paint those allied units in your Space Wolves' colors, if you really want to keep a uniform look to the army, and thus pretend that they are Space Wolves, but you still have to treat them as basic Space Marines and can't try to use Space Wolves-unique rules on them (for example, no Counterattack, or Acute Senses on your "Space Wolves" Centurions). EDIT: You don't have to paint them as Space Wolves, though, just to be precise. You can leave your allies painted as Ultramarines, or Crimson Fists, or Black Templars, or Nova Dolphins, or whatever Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter you want to have them represent. Is that clearer now? V Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289975-cant-find-this-question/#findComment-3663098 Share on other sites
