Hmm, Executioner Plasma Cannon.  Type: Heavy 3, Blast, Gets Hot

Let's consult the holy book of rules ...

 

Wleapons that do not roll To Hit (such as Blast weapons) must roll a D6 for each shot immediately before firing.

 

Yep.  3 shots = 3 dice.

To be expected.  Reading C:AM with some of the changes I couldn't help but wonder at the (actual) reasoning behind the changes because they made little sense.   

 

Good thing FW has conversion kits for Conquerors.  Been wondering if they would be a good investment, now it looks like I get to replace my two Executioner turrets with them. 

They really aren't that bad with gets hot.

By my calculations (quite possibly erroneous) there is only a 3% chance of rolling three or more 1's when shooting the full 5 plasma blasts (turret and sponsons) each turn.

 

Ive used two executioners with plasma cannons and a ML2 psyker, got hot twice, one succesfully rerolled and another I saved it so didn't lose a HP, its not as bad as people make it up to be.

Indeed, it's not an instant death knell by any means but it is something to consider when looking at the sponsons. It will probably mean your tank gets knocked out sooner but you might think that worth the risk! Personally I'd rather lose a tank to enemy action than my own :P
