Conscript Squads= Pure Win?

I think that conscripts could be a real powerhouse in the new dex. Previously they were overpriced and suffered from lack of Leadership. Now they have dropped in points and have access to a priest for fearless. I actually think that for pure lasfire they could be more efficient than regular guardsmen. Here is my reasoning-

Squad 1) 50 Conscripts, Priest, Primaris

Squad 2) 30 Infantry, Priest, Primaris

Both cost the same points.

With re-rolls to hit the conscript squad is netting an average 28 hits while the regular infantry are achieving 22.5 at range 24". This becomes more apparent the more shots that the squads have for instance within rapid fire range it becomes 56 compared to 45 or even better with FRFSRF. My question is are these guys worth running en masse and sacrificing the special and heavy weapons of the regular infantry? I can see them being even more nasty with yarrick in the ranks.

I was thinking about conscript too. I have 50 mini's I don't like that were "conscripts" . I was thinking about a way to field 3 full conscript blocs as well in my mounted infantry platoons. It's a tough call for me. I need more actual 28mm models to play conscripts. Mordians and Steel Legion aren't as large as Cadians. what to do.. But it would be a lot of fun.

Uberwolve, you just saved the use of my excess mens too! I was wracking my brain trying to think of a reason to keep around the bunch of guardsmen I don't care for (got them 2nd hand), and now there it is.

I started to think about looking for a bunch of second hand 2ed IG. Honestly the steel Legion are too weedy. Maybe they will become the con.... Na. can't do it!

Although the "conscripts" bag is full of Steel Legion, but it's 50 in the same pose! Yuck!

They could be effective yes, but always beware the one trick pony as once everyone has seen it it tends to deflate. By bubble wrapping you're severely limiting what your options are as it won't be easy to move the squad around. Leave the cheap tricks to the cheap armies I say!

Creed and Kell could provide them with a LD 8 if you want some ordering done on them, imagin those 50 conscripts with re-rolls to hit and an extra shot, 150 shots are even better than 100. Doesnt even take in account the increased chance of having them outflank due to Creed trait greed (rhymes couldnt resist)
