Horus Heresy Weekender

Recommended Posts

I'm coming and am on my own as well. I'm staying at Belfy as despite the cost it makes things a lot easier as I can take whatever I buy back to my room rather than carry it around the whole day. And the hotel is pretty great too. I'm over six feet tall bearded guy, and might wear a black Horus Heresy t-shirt with a small red Eye of Horus on the front and a bigger one on the back.

Is anyone here planning on bringing an army? I'm kind of on the fence myself. Last year I did an manage to get two fun games, although the second was a bit short due to the gaming area closing. On one hand I only get to play Horus Heresy against my brother (and with my own minis mostly) and not that often anywa,so it'd be nice to play against someone else, but on the other hand the evening is the only reasonable time to play, and I'd also like to attend the pub quiz this year (last time I took part in the Zone Mortalis participation game and then played the other two games) which is also held at the evening.

I don't know if I'll be able to resist to Sedition's Gate...

So the big event is almost here. I just managed to get a room at The Belfry and cancel my previous booking at a hotel that was a short distance away but still not as good as being at the venue itself.

Notes for next year:

1. Try booking sooner - apparently there was an event rate but you had to book by 16th April.

2. Tell friend not to get wife pregnant again - that way we can split the costs.

3. Don't leave re-establishing contact with a gaming buddy I haven't seen for over ten years until three days before the event only to find that he lives on the western edge of Nottingham but is busy this weekend.

4. Become bestselling Black Library author and get VIP access and (presumably) all expenses paid.

Safe journey everyone. biggrin.png

Maybe worth mentioning that the bar/club Rock City is a short taxi ride away from the Belfry. Might be worth a look on Saturday night. Anyone else stopping at the Hogs Head hotel on the Friday night? Forecast 21 degrees over the weekend in Nottingham, it's lining up to be a terrific weekend. I'll endeavour to take plenty photos and notes about upcoming books and models but they'll most likely only be uploaded after the event on Sunday night.

I did the sensible thing and booked for tonight as well so tomorrow instead of getting up driving and panicking that it will be carnage when I arrive I shall be rolling out of bed, getting stuff from the FW sales stand then jaunting off to breakfast before the festivities begin.

There's been nothing from BL about novels on early release there which is disappointing but as usual FW are stepping up to the plate

Just set out for work laden with bags this morning as im supposed to go straight from work to birmingham nee street then Nottingham... and I realised I left my ticket in my study! Rubbish start to my weekender sad.png

I shouldn't laugh at this act of misfortune but I can't help it laugh.png

In all seriousness dude hope you sort it without too much trouble

This shouldn't sound as familiar as it does to me...but hey, feel thankful it was the ticket and not your house-keys (and the ticket).

Could anyone ask if they plan to do rules or the Morlocks or other Iron Hands units?

Thanks

I'll try to remember.

So, I arrived about 45 min ago. I once worked in a bank but was never tempted by the cash; the van load of FW goodie sitting in the hotel car park was a different prospect.

Having decided against stealing a lifetime's supply of models because if I did that ADB probably would't sign my book I checked in. The receptionist immediately deduced why I was here. I wondered for a moment if I was that conspicuous a game geek, then realised that the space marine glowering at her from my chest was a pretty emphatic "Yes".

Right, as I'm in Nottingham I'm off to find Warhammer World. Not been for years.

Went to exhibition hall at Warhammer Worldand was surprised to see a lot of FW Heresy minis and displays still there. Interesting detail were the almost empty cabinets for Blood Angels, Orks and Space Wolves which seem consistent with the codex rumours for this year.

Weird request: If anyone from the B&C starts talking to me, "Hi, I'm [insert Real Name Here]" never, ever works, but "Dude, I'm [Forum Name] from Bolter and Chainsword" almost always does.

These two approaches are the key difference between these two scenarios:

- #1 -

Katie: Who was that?

Me: No idea.

- #2 -

Katie: Who was that?

Me: Someone I know from the B&C.

Or I say I'm Aussie and I'm abducting you and bringing you back to Australia

You reply with hey Jaspcat sure I will ;)

Jasp, you live in South Australia.. at least let me abduct him to Victoria. Victoria has the distinguishing factor of not being boring :p

Of course, that's unless you live in the middle of nowhere like me. Haha.
