Taurox or Taurox prime?

Recommended Posts

I recently bought me a Taurox , but i'm wondering what to do.

Up front: i'm not one to magnetize my tanks and vehicles for different loadouts.

Now, i have 2 kaskin/scion squads of which one will be entering battle in a valkyrie

I'm wondering if i shall give the second squad a Taurox Prime or if i should pass it on to a normal squad or veteran squad and use it as a normal Taurox.

If it is going to be a Taurox prime, what is the best Taurox prime loadout?

I think the Taurox needs numbers to be effective, Prime or not. The Prime being Fast is cool, but the price tag makes me hesitate to consider it. Hopefully we can hear back reports of it's use but so far I've not heard a peep from anyone using it... If I did take one I'd have to keep it cheap, so I'd probably not spend points on upgrades. The Missile Launcher one would be good, shame about the cost though.

Personally, if taken on their own merrits, I find the Taurox less effective transport for veterans than a Chimera, simply because of the inability to take an IC and less survivability. Having said that, if you spam Tauroxes, it will be cheaper so you can invest in other things. For me, I carry a Primaris with my vets and I want to keep them inside for as long as possible.

As for the Taurox Prime, I like it a lot. Yes it costs quite a bit but the weapon options are darn nice, making is a solid fire-support/shock unit to speed forward. However, I single Prime will be annihilated fairly fast. You will want to have target saturation if you want to make use of fragile models.

Anyway, my verdict? Taurox for vets depends on your playstyle but I still see the Chimera as superior if you are light on troops. Taurox Prime is nice if you can bring a few, on their own they will suffer citical existance failure.

A few questions on this then:

I think my decision is pretty much set then and a prime it will be for my kasrkin.

But what loadout should i use:

The battle cannon?

Gattling?

Missile launcher? (dont like how this looks)

Numbers will also come from the chimera's accompanying it offcourse.

Either:

- Punisher cannon + volleygun for anti-infantry

or

- Rockets + autocannon for transport cracking

Absolutely nothing of that statement was wrong. Sums it up very well.

Out of these two options I do prefer rockets + AC because of high strength shooting. Imps have a lot of anti infantry fire power, especially if you play scions. It's the long ranged support that I like to see on my tanks. Charging forward will result in an untimely death. Having said that, I saw the PC/VG in action against marines and in chewed right through 'em.

If you're using it primarily for the transportation factor (it is a fast vehicle) then consider the standard loadout of Taurox Cannon and Autocannon. It isn't nearly so glamorous but it is a hell of a lot cheaper and still packs three accurate str 7 shots, which will knock out enemy transports in time for the disgorging scions to lay into the occupants. The saved points can add up after you've taken three or four of them.

The Only game I have used my primes was a weird one, 3k, My side was Marines (IH) 2 Knights, and some before AM book IG,

Other side; player one had orks, player two had tau and eldar, the primes (alpha is gatling cannon volley gun,and storm bolter, beta is cannon and auto cannon) stayed close to 3 chimeras (no troops loaded in any, the boys were in cover holding the back line), and the light armored column moved into the ork lines... right into a very large herd of grot tanks, they did well, the alpha died without firing a shot, but the beta was able to hunt light armor, and killed some dire avengers before being power clawed. I think the gatling cannon is kinda meh, but the truck having 16 s4 shots on the move is kinda neat
