Not sure if it's been posted, but got an email from FW includign this link

The legion army list is being released separate from the big tomes, and includes all units from the first three books.
Depending on the price this could be a very good alternative to Betrayal, hopefully allowing non SOH/EC/DG to have their rules for under £100 :P

Looks like they've created two new books.

Generic Legions army list.

Istvaan campaign Legions.

The two books together.

30 pounds a pop for the two books, or 60 for the pair. Not too bad, I guess. A neat addition for those who want the lists without the excess fluff, or those who don't want to carry the massive books around with them just to game.

"Not too bad, I guess."

Not too bad geek.gif . It's fantastic! £30 is the same as a regular codex from GW, so it's not even priced at a premium! Sure, you might need the Isstvan book for your Legion but you certainly don't need it. This book removes one of the biggest hurdles into getting into 30k for people: The downpayment on literature.

Yet again another solid decision from ForgeWorld, GW could learn a thing or two from these guys...

Having picked up the Collectors Edition of Extermination from the Open Day earlier in the year I can attest to just how great these combined army list rule books are, expecially the generic army list one. Sure you don't get the amazing background, art pieces and fluff from the regular books, but for 100 pages you get the core Crusade army list (including FAQ and updates) from all three books with a concise special rule and wargear section at the back, and for £30 I consider that a steal.  Ditto for the Legion rules.

Not just a great entry point for people thinking about the 30k gaming mechanics (I would still say that the regular books are a great place to start, as the level of detail in the main trilogy of books is astonishing), but I can see a lot of people who already have the main books buying these simply for gaming purposes and carrying around.

But they're in red?!?!? The ones in the Collectors Edition were black, like the other books and hence match quite nicely. That red is simply cooler though - I want a red one!!!

oh i know i'll be ordering the army list book.  since i'm planning on going IF, i'll probably just photocopy the legion rules/units from book three and keep them tucked in the back of this book as quick reference sheets. and yay, red; my favorite color.
