Marshal Rohr
Anyone know where I can find the name of Lorgar's bodyguard/Terminator elite in the HH series? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290575-word-bearers-terminators/ Share on other sites
SFH
By the time of Betrayer, it's elite members of the Vakrah Jal (Chapter of Consecrated Iron) who serve as Lorgar's bodyguard. The Gal Vorbak were originally portrayed as such in Collected Visions, but that changed somewhere along the way. Before that Lorgar's bodyguard was simply supposed to be members of the Word Bearers First Company. Kol Saresk
However the Vakrah Jal have yet to be depicted as Terminators and as far as we know, Argel Tal is/was the only Gal Vorbak in their number. Although IIRC, Argel Tal said the Vakrah Jal serve as more of an advisory capacity than anything else. I know the quote is there somewhere. Ah yes! Here it is: They regarded each other a moment, before Argel Tal cracked the ghost of a smile. 'Thousands of the Legion detested the Ultramarines. Lorgar ordered many of us to gather when we were already en route to Calth. I, and the others who would become the commanders and apostles among the Vakrah Jal. He wanted our counsel on what to do with those among the Legion he no longer trusted. Our Legion culled its ranks in a trickle down the decades, but nothing like the Isstvan Atrocity that Angron is so proud of. Lorgar knew loyalty within the Word Bearers was never in doubt. Competence was a different matter.' -Betrayer, Page 186 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290575-word-bearers-terminators/#findComment-3674141 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Argel Tal's Honor Guard can be done using the Ashen Circle rules, I think. I could've sworn I remember Lorgar having Terminator Guards and now I can't remember. Kol Saresk
I almost have to say it would either be in Collected Visions or Visions of Heresy, which is the Collected Visions reprint. The First Heretic mentions Kor Phaeron being in charge of the Terminator Elite, but as far as I know, they go unnamed and nothing is said if the Terminator Elite are also the bodyguard retinue. The Ashen Circle might be a little tricky to use as an honor guard since they cannot be joined by friendly independent characters. Marshal Rohr
Argel Tal doesn't use a jump pack, either. If I was gonna build it, I'd do Argel Tal with a command squad and a separate squad as the Vakrah Jal. Kol Saresk
Not entirely true. Before he was Gal Vorbak, he did use a jump pack. And after the Changes started to happen, he did have wings. I don't recall any mention of a jump pack between the two transitions, but since the one guy still had his bike, I doubt it'd be a crime to model him with one. Marshal Rohr
Gah, I've been a loyalist too long. I didn't even think about the wings! Thanks, Kol. Honda
The thing that surprised me about Lorgar's terminator guard was his disdain for them. That came out in the scene when Angron and Khârn board his flagship (?) and there is a slight confrontation. Off the top of my head, I do not recall them being named like other Legion honor guards. It's a good question, though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290575-word-bearers-terminators/#findComment-3674449 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
I'm trying to compile a list of the Primarchs Honor Guards and the Legion Elite. Off the top of my head: Imperial Fists have the Templars and Phalanx Warders. Iron Hands have the Gorgon Terminators with the 'honor clan' being the Morlocks. Salamanders have the Pyre Guard of Lord Protectors and each Realm has a cadre of Firedrakes. Corax has his Shadow Wardens and the Mor Deythan elite cadre. Death Guard have the Deathshroud. Emperor's Children have the Phoenix Guard with the Palatine Blades being an honor formation. Night Lords have the Atramentar elite, but Kurze doesn't have a bodyguard. White Scars have the Keshig terminators (weird given they hate being slow). Ultramarines have the Invictus Terminator Guard and the Varangii from Collected Vision, though I don't know what the Varangii will turn out to be. Blood Angels have their Sanguinary Guard. Sons of Horus have the Justaerin and Catulans. Thousand Sons have the Scarab Occult Terminators. World Eaters have the Devourers. Space Wolves also have the Varangii, so I'm betting they keep it and the Ultras get something else. Iron Warriors have the Tyranthikos. That's all I can remember right now. Marshal Rohr
Crap, yeah, forgot about them. I think the Tyranthikos is more of a fraternal order than an actual formation, too. Marshal Rohr
From my understanding the Legion is divided into six wings of varying specialties and them put together into separate Chapters. So Astelan's Chapter would have Dread, Raven, Death, Iron, etc Wing detachments that make up his chapter. Emperor's Furor
Do you think the Terminators for Dark Angels would use Volkite Chargers? Kol Saresk
I don't see why not. Unremembered Empire paints the picture that the Dark Angels were one of the first Legions to see active service and as a result, have access top some of the oldest technology available to the Imperium by the time of the Heresy. I'm considering giving mine chargers and power fists with a single power sword. There's only one answer to this: DESTROY THEM WITH LAZERS!!! That being said, idk how people are able to model them on as to my knowledge the chargers only come with grips to be used with tac squads. However, terminators only have their arm up to their wrist, no hands. You will need to get your hands on some...well...hands :P from probably one of the assault squad kits Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290575-word-bearers-terminators/#findComment-3675842 Share on other sites
