hmm! Lord of war, eh? Sounds appropriate BUT he needs a revamp.

Yeah, he'll need a little bit of a buff, but easy to do, and who/what better in the Space Wolves history/arsenal to represent as a Lord of War than he who walked with Russ?

While I agree wholeheartedly, my cynical side wouldn't discount the possibility of a giant mecha-thunderwolf, being ridden by smaller wolves, with a special rule to spawn yet more wolves teehee.gif .

My money's on ice dragon ridden by "dragon-kin" an even more aloof and separate group of wolf guard...

No?

Ok, probably not...

I don't want a lot from the codex. Just the option to take the chapter banner or banner of the great wolf or whatever you want to call it, in a squad of wolf guard. I've always thought it was more appropriate for the people who guard the Lord should hold aloft his banner.

Might be worth discussing whether it would be a good thing for rune priests and wolf priests to gain access to thunder wolf mounts in the upcoming codex. I can see people having differing opinions on this. I think it has been said that it would be inappropriate for fluff reasons once or twice.

Personally, I think the codex should definitely allow this.

Why shouldn't it?

Perhaps rune priests and wolf priests are trained differently (so would not ordinarily have been wolf guard at any stage) and may therefore have a less obvious path to coming into their station with solid experience in a TWC pack.

But I don't really see that as providing a reason for disallowing it entirely. Who says being a wolf guard need be the ONLY way a space wolf might be able to ride one? Sure, it may be the norm, and the codex does say that they're reserved for wolf guard, but to my mind that only includes lesser ranks, such as grey hunters - and shouldn't be taken as a reason for excluding other elite of a higher (albeit very different) station.

Sagas are the central conceit of space wolves. The core of the army concept is that every warrior wants to make a legend of themselves in service to their pack mates and the emperor. From this philosophy, I think that an 'almost anything is possible' approach is somewhat appropriate... within reason of course. Perhaps your warlord is renowned as being the only rune priest to have ever ridden with the thunder wolf cavalry. Perhaps your wolf priest knows why 'there are no wolves on fenris' because he shares a legendary bond with the animals, has worked countless hours studying their strangely familiar and not-so-canine-after-all physiology during post battle surgery, and thinks he may know the name his wolf mount bore in a past life...

Wolf priests can get saga of the wolfkin, after all. It seems absurd that a wolf priest that is famous for his rapport with fenrisian wolves cannot ever ride into battle riding a thunder wolf.

I Certainly agree with you Skeletoro.

Considering the Space Wolves continue to deny the existence of the Thunderwolf Cavalry altogether, and in order to have a mount, a wolf must go and hunt and tame one himself, I see no reason why a Rune/Wolf priest can't decide, 'I gotta get me one of those bad boys...' and go off Wolf Hunting. Even if his superior forbade it, I hardly imagine a high ranking Space Wolf to give two howls what anyone else was to say.

I love the fact that the Wolves seem to be the most flexible of all the armies from a Fluff perspective.

Often I speak to my friends who play GK and Smurfmarines, and their fluff makes them so hopelessly doe-eyed in love with the Emperor that they wouldn't under any circumstances deviate from his will. I laugh in the face of their blind obedience and pompous, Emperor worshiping foolishness...

We Go Where We Wilt, We Slay Who We Wilt, and in all honesty, who cares if the Emperor approves, we had fun while we were doing it!!!!

Bet -

Wolf Guard will no longer be the "buy an Elite squad and break it up" - they will be a 10 point upgrade to a squad member, like Sword Brethren are for Black Templars.

That's basically #36 over here in the actual Bet Thread

V

Grey Hunters will pay the same points cost for both special weapons as regular marines.

Will gain access to Grav Weapons

Grey hunters will remain the same cost, to make up for better gear.

Xwingt65, the questions have already been determined, and the actual Bets Thread is already ongoing.  Several of those that you came up with are among the list.  Please check out the other thread and place your bets!
