Sevatar
Hi, Following on from Praetor of Calth's fantastic thread, and others, I was thinking about specific units. Dark Angels: Dreadwing, Deathwing, Ravenwing? Of course, all different (and better) than their 40k alternatives. I would expect the Deathwing to be powerful. Blood Angels: Sanguinary Guard - WS 5, of course, and Hopefully many other benefits. Proto Death Company/Red thirst? Furious charge, FNP, WS 5 squad....like a Veteran squad on steroids White Scars: Keshig..... I would expect these bad boys to be good, certainly on level with the Firedrakes. I would hope for 2 wound, WS 5 CATAPHRACTII (!) A elite bike squad - hopefully better than Legion Outriders, who are currently, well, dreadful. Ultramarines: Inceptor Terminators - a suitably powerful and deadly Terminator squad. Armaturan guard - an elite Veteran squad. Space Wolves: Wulfen, of course - like the current Death Company, but with Rending too. Very likely. Terminator bodyguard - in Thousand Sons, were very powerful, some sort of bodyguard for Russ. Huscarls? Thousand Sons: Hidden Ones - expert Recon marines. Sekhmet - Terminator Bodyguard who should be Mastery Level 2 death machines. Pricy though. Existing.... Iron Hands - Morlocks, I need them! Same price as Deathshroud... 2 wound Terminators, FNP, Power Axes, Cataphractii for sure, can never capture objectives. Night Lords - Atramentar. Don't know much about them. Salamanders - Pyre Guard for sure. These guys function as a unit of Praetors. Should, in my opinion, be the most powerful Primary bodyguard there is. Ultramarines - Tetrarchs - like the Pyre , incredibly dangerous and skilled. Losark
Regarding Your Comments On Terminators. Atramentar As Far As I Recall, Were Just Terminator Armored Warriors. Tetrarchs: Not A Unit. A Group Of The Highest Ranking Praetors In The Legion. Sort Of A Council. Pyre Guard: Nothing Anywhere Suggests Too Me That The Pyre Guard Were All Praetor Class Warriors. ThEy Should Bee On A Similar Level Add The Other BodyGuards Apologies For Typos And Formatting. DuskRaider
I'm a bit disappointed that Death Guard didn't get a Legion-specific Destroyer unit. I was hoping they would have an Elite unit that would work well for Pride of the Legion. I know technically Deathshroud are Elite, but they're supposed to be very few in numbers, and fluff wise it just wouldn't work well. Technically, aren't the Grave Wardens a destroyer-specific unit for the XIVth? Or are you referring to a Termi-armoured destroyer unit that can be taken as a Troops choice in a Pride list? Sevatar
Keshig were the elite bodyguard of the Khan. Pyre Guard were all Chapter Master equivalents. It's in Promethean Sun. Anvilarium
Iron Hands - Morlocks, I need them! Same price as Deathshroud... 2 wound Terminators, FNP, Power Axes, Cataphractii for sure, can never capture objectives. Alan Bligh said "All Morlocks are Gorgon Terminators, but not all Gorgon Terminators are Morlocks", meaning that the Gorgon Terminators (when they are released) will be the closest thing the Iron Hands get to Morlocks. There was nothing particularly special about the Morlocks anyway - they were simply the Terminator Centuries of Clan Avernii. Gorgon Terminators aside, I really can't see why we need a set of rules and a unit specifically for 'Morlocks', when they can be more than adequately represented by Gorgons and standard Crusade Army Terminator units. Grave Wardens are Terminators of the First Company... they have chemical weaponry, but I think that's more due to being associated with Typhon than anything else. According to the updates to HH, any Legion-specific units in the Elite selection can be taken as Troops using Pride of the Legion. I was hoping Death Guard would be getting something power-armored in the Elite Slot... Grave Wardens are Heavy Support.
