PensacolaWarhammer
I'm hoping to get help with this. I'm looking to start an Airborne Imperial Guard army. My plan would be to use both the regular codex as well as the Elysian Drop Troopers army list depending on what stage of their operation I want to represent. I currently have Imperial Armour Volume 8 that has the complete Elysian Drop Troopers army list. I have heard the Imperial Armour Volume 3 2nd edition has a list. Is this one more or less updated than Imperial Armour 8? Points and rules in Imperial Armour 8 is basically in line with the current Imperial Guard codex. Kilofix
IA:V3 2nd edition is newer for certain. But I can't remember if the list is really that different from IA:8, and I'm not at home atm to check. Malus Trux
I actually asked about this before. My inquiry Hello again,With a new Elysian army list, I was wondering if the one in Imperial Armor 3 2nd Edition replaces the previous one in Imperial Armor 8 or if like the Krieg lists, this is a variant/companion list that is independent from the previous one. I haven't seen anything definitive on the website & haven't had a chance to pick up the IA3 2nd ed book yet to check if its said in the Army list.If it does replace the IA8 version, I was wondering if it is still possible to use the special characters like Captains Thanstadt or Xhyst or Inquisitor Solomon Lok in the new list. I enjoyed them as they were quite unique, flavorful & balanced.Thank you Response from Forgeworld Hi there. The Elysian list in Taros 2nd edition is not a replacement for the one shown in IA8 but this will be updated at a later point. Main difference between IA8 & IA3 is the newer list has a special rule called Combat Drop that allows you to deep strike certain units on turn one kinda like Space Marine Drop Pods. There's a few other things like homing beacons & demo charges in IA8 vs tracking beacons & breacher charges in IA3 but for the most part they're very similar lists. I personally prefer the IA8 version but the IA3 is definitely the more playable due to the Combat Drop rule. PensacolaWarhammer
@Malus Trux That's the conclusion that I'm coming to since I've done a bit more research. For me, I think I'm preferring IA8, but can say for certain as I haven't actually played a game with either books yet.
