Unbound space wolves?

Well, let's face it. A lot of the GW staff have been trying to push Unbound on us in half measures for a long time (Formations, Bizarre third slots like Inquisition detachments, desire to just make allies free-for-all and "trust" the players not to abuse the system). If done well, this could allow them to have that as an officially sanctioned option for players who want that, while tournaments can limit entrance to battleforged armies, which could get a bit tighter balance with Unbound being more of an "anything in the gentleman's agreement goes".

Pretty big "if," though.

If this is GW's answer for 'fixing' the battle bros thing, they're doing it all wrong. It could be a neat idea, but most likely it will end up being another thing american gamers molest and make totally OP and un-fun.

Although the idea of running a couple Thunderlords and a bazillion fen wolves makes my heart accelerate then stop all together.

End of Line

Yeah, the devil will definitely be in the details.

Agreed.  The optimist in me refuses to let me become a chicken little about it.  If anything, I'm more concerned about the reincorporation of a Psychic Phase again; I actually like how Psychic Powers have been dealt with for the last few editions (i.e "shooty" powers go in the Shooting phase, "choppy" powers go in the Assault phase, etc.).  But, we'll have to wait and see how it all pans out, and how it affects, 1) the meta, 2) our current 5e codex, and 3) our rumored upcoming 7e codex.

The fun in The Fang is truly about to begin, what with ongoing dual painting challenges (ETL3 and Titanis Belli), the reemergence of the Brawl (The Howling thread), a 7e drop, as well as possible new codex drop.  Let's do this!

It's at least enough to keep me going....I will admit though I'm probably more excited about what's going on in the fang than what is rumored to be coming our way....I promise this is my last 'Q.Q' post, I'm starting to annoy myself whistling.gif

It will allow more fluffy great company structures too though. For instance, Erik Morkai's great company could field lots of wolf scouts instead of great hunters (of course, if they're using current rules and aren't scoring it will be pretty suboptimal, but hey, you can do it!)

Well, theyve used collection for alot of things over the years- could just be any one codex for an unbound army, could be anything- genestealers and daemon princes with wraithknights for backup. We just dont know.

But, if its much crazier than a codex+suppliment for unbound, you can be your bottom dollar that 99% of places will house rule that its 'war forged only'.

I see it as GW has painted themselves into a corner and this is an attempt to wipe the slate clean.

Rules, optional rules, alternate optional rules, secondary alternate optional rules. Hell just go back to 2nd edition and start over. I highly doubt it will ever be a "drop what you want on the table". It will be a 40/40/20 or a 25/25/50 rules set just like the olden days.

How about 12 Lone Wolves with Terminator Armour, Chainfist and Storm Shield running up the board?

Remember, a Lone Wolf does not concede a Victory Point if he dies in battle. Instead, to represent his failure to meet a spectacular end, a Lone Wolf awards a Victory Point in such a mission if he survives until the end of the game.

Moar!
