The Gauntlet of Fenris - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248836-the-gauntlet-of-fenris/

:: SPECIAL SCENARIO ::

Helwinter is finally over. The long bitter cold has faded, but the eye of the wolf came quickly and with a vengeance; algae covered the shores around the southern islands like never before. Vegetation grew to surreal proportions, causing thousands of kraken-spawn to boil out of the seas of Fenris.

The brotherhood of the Iron Isles sends a distress call to the sky warriors. All they could do was to prepare for the onslaught and endure.

++++ INCOMING TRANSMISSION +++

"Our scanners from both the Fang and on orbit, are seeing massive migratory movements of kraken-spawn. All heading towards the southern islands.
This event has not been seen by the Old Wolf and of the Rout since the Anvil, Arjac rose to distinction and becoming the champion he is today. Unfortunately eleven of the twelve great companies are out on crusades across the galaxy. Only a skeleton crew of Inglorious Drunkards and Kaerls stand watch over the Wolf Kingdom and the mighty stronghold known as the Aett. For those brave enough to heed the call. Help stop the advance of those kraken-spawn by running the gauntlet." - Hunt Master, MaveriK

:: DISCLAIMER ::

Users have to right to ignore this thread just as people have the right to participate. Please keep the roll-playing within this thread. We have to be more responsible with our words and actions, and try not to let the mindset cross over to other threads. This is the Fang, and we represent the Sons of Russ. Behave yourselves or see yourself cast out deep into the underfang.

Acute Senses
Counter-attack

gallery_24878_5332_8898.jpg

:: SIDE QUEST RULES ::

1) Indicate your character's location and actions to your Hunt-Master. Post your instructions.

2) Each tile equals one mile. Only 3 users may occupy one tile excluding beast. Each character on the map has the Independent special rule.

3) Users have an option to join a pack of up to a limit of 5 members. However your pack may team up with another pack. The more the better!

4) Users are allowed to move two tiles in any direction, and assault on their third.

5) Once a user fails his armour save, a leadership roll is made to see if he can still stand and fight with negative modifiers (-1 WS, -1 A, -1 I). The player then breaks off from combat and restarts one tile back in any direction from their current location. Once a user fails his final armour save, the character is rendered unconscious, either waiting for his pack mates to bring him back to the tavern or the Fleshmaker to bring him back to the Fang.

6) To determine how many kraken spawn you'll be facing. During the first round the Hunt-Master will be rolling 5 dice, to determine how many kraken you will be facing. The game ends when either all the kraken are dead or all the users are knocked out and or taken out of play. Use your wargear and tactics. May the dice gods favor the bold!

:: THE MAP ::

Kraken-spawn is one of Fenris mightiest sea-dwellers on Fenris. Each great year when the sun makes the land melt, and the oceans are once more full of activity the kraken releases his children. Scale spawned monstrosities, these monsters are known to attack many a fortified position by the
hundreds.

---Morning Patrol---

1) Post your locations. You can place yourselves anywhere from columns E and F. Please be aware that the dark blue color located on the map is considered frozen ice, and is therefore safe to walk/run/fight on. Once everybody is on the map. I'll roll for the number of kraken and I'll place them at random.

2) You are all given 48hrs to send in your instructions to the Hunt-Master. The sooner I receive your instructions, the faster I can roll the dice.

3) If I forgot someone or if I missed something, please let me know! I am sure to miss things along the way.

4) For those who wish to join-in, you are more than welcome and have until this Friday May 09, 2014 to sign up. Hopefully I can start rolling the dice Saturday morning.

I will take position E1

Can you go there? It reads to me like rows E and F are where we can't go.

Huh I read it as only the E and F rows are allowed

Then both the other packs are starting in the wrong place atm.

I'll back up sven on E1, assuming it's a legal start position.

(C6 for me).

Let's take the centre ground my brothers and we'll claim the first kill!!!!

I will join Brother Rylanor at C6. To those in my pack, we should deploy close to each other so that as the Kraken spawn we can take it down with the ferocity of the Vlka Fenryka!

@MaveriK, would you like us to continue using the forums to post our instructions or would you like us to PM / Email you?

Mav put me in E5 also pack mates one of you will have to join me or take an adjacent tile as its a max of three per tile plus the Kraken spawn. I would think either Reede or Fyth to spread out the flamers leaving myself and Rylanor with a PW on each tile for AP hits, just an idea.

Not that I've been lurking in this forum just waiting for this thread to surface again or anything... whistlingW.gif

But if there's room for a random son of Guilliman on the front lines, I'll sign up to any pack that wants me.

I'm also dumb man enough to go without upgrades, so if anyone else wants to bring some crazy-powerful gear along... tongue.png

So, uh, if it's cool with everyone, I'll volunteer as a vanilla Blood Claw on E2.

My plan's pretty much going to be 'shadow the rest of my pack' - I might not win many combats against a kraken with a bare-bones setup, but I might just do enough damage to tip the scales in our favour. happy.png
