Reede and myself should join you on D7 seeing as we have the flamers and there are two kraken occupying that square. Please place me on D7 and opening fire with my flamer on both kraken in C7.

I move with Brother Fytharin to square D7 and let loose the tides of Promethium upon the Kraken.

***************************

Before the Pack even reaches the sea Reede can already hear the lapping of the tide against the rocks, and the sickly oozing sound of the Kraken making their way to shore. As they overtake the final hill that looks down upon the blue crystals of the water they all realize the true situation at hand.

Where others might look upon what they saw with distress or, Russ forbid, fear, Reede knew that by days end, whether he walked or slept upon the red snow, the time in between would be filled with glory. With a toothy grin he hefts his trusty flamer up, determined to show the Krakenspawn a different kind of tide.

You know, after my last little story, I'm half expecting the first kraken I attack to take me down in the first turn.laugh.png

But so long as there's a space marine left standing at the end of it all, though, that's good enough for me!

It's looking like a strong opening move all round so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how these creatures like a face full of fire! biggrin.png

The scent of kraken-spawn is overwhelming to a fenrisian's nostrils. With a twitch of his hand, Arez unleashes the torrent of his heavy flamer as his keen eyes find the largest concentration of the scaley foe. Holding position, but forward of myself, hell fire on C8.

A small portion of his mind flashing back to his younger days of clearing space hulks, Wolf Lord Kieran unleashes his Cyclone warheads to the rear of the gibbering swarm. He smiles toothily, knowing the explosions to the rear were likely to panic them, right into the flaming jaws of his packmates. WLK also holds position, firing on the two krakenspawn in A10 with a pair of krak missiles.

Having come loaded with armor piercing rounds to penetrate the thick hides of the deep-spawn, Grey targets the mass of chitin and tentacle heartbeats away from his pack with the cold eye of a long fang. Ill fire on the gribbly in C9, krak missile.

The roar of Arez's flamer is joined by the river of fire erupting from Crazywolfs massive frame, the cracking of kraken hide almost lost as they scream in agony. Crazywolf is targetting the Kraken in C12.

Skadi's discerning gaze blinked once, switching that targetting rectacle over to the pinpoint runes of the heavy bolter interface. With a simple gesture, bolts flew into the flaming mass before the pack, bound and determined to take down the encroaching swarm. Skadi will target the Krakenspawn in C12 aswell.

Alright folks, submitting instructions for the morning patrol is now closed. I have the results but unfortunately it's going to take me some time to post and update the map. Please give me a another day to do it proper and it will be posted for everyone to see.

Please keep in mind that the following events occurred simultaneously. Eager are these young wolves for a worthy sage that they forgo the tactics and cunning of a wolf pack. By the time the wiser of the Rout amongst the packs were able to devise a smart plan, the wolves were already in battle.

Ace Debonair shoots his bolt pistol at kraken on C3 but does nothing. Dizzyeye runs forward and shoots his Meltagun at the kraken on C7. The Meltagun hits and the kraken makes a screeching noise that cracked the ice beneath it. The melta wounds, however the kraken but makes its save.

Arez "Greenhorn" feeling uncomfortable in his newly tested tactical dreadnought armour, growls at the approaching swarm. He aims and shoots his Heavy flamer at the closest kraken on C9. The kraken is engulfed in flames and wounds the creature. The kraken fails a wound and is now down to two wounds.

Reede joins his pack brother Dizzyeye and shoots his flamer at the two kraken on C7. The first kraken fails a wound but the other behind it makes its save.

The Shield Maiden steps up and fires her Heavy bolter on the kraken at C12. She wounds the creature twice. Wolf Lord Keiran "The Talon of Fenris" shoots his Cyclone missile launcher at the two kraken on A10. It hits hard and make their mark. Both kraken lose a single wound.

Brother Crazywolf takes his aim and shoots his Heavy flamer at the kraken on C12. It wounds but the creature makes its save.

rune priest sven steps up bravely and unleashes his flamer on the kraken at C1. The kraken takes a wound but makes its save.

jbickb shoots his Meltagun at the kraken on C3. It hits and causes a wound.

Sigvard "the reckless" berserk charges onto the kraken on C3 but fails to realize that the kraken was much faster to react. The kraken hits and wounds Sigvard four times in the onslaught. Sigvard makes three saves and fails his fourth. Sigvard goes down but makes his Ld test. Sigvard is now fighting with negative modifiers of -1 WS and -1 BS. It was now Sigvard's turn to unleash his murder-make. He hacks and slashes at the kraken and wounds it three times. The kraken saves one, but fails the other two. Sigvard "the bold" earns the first kill.

Fytharin joins in on D7 and shoots her flamer at the two kraken on C7. She wounds one kraken but it makes the save. Brother Rylanor shoots his Bolt pistol at the rear kraken on C7 but misses, he then charges at it with his Power fist. The kraken quickly reacts and manages to wound Rylanor three times. Brother Rylanor makes all three saves! his Power fist breaks bone and manages to kill the kraken with all his attacks.

mactire shoots his bolt pistol, but it does nothing. He then charges onto the remaining kraken on C7. The kraken reacts quicker and manages to wound mactire twice, but the Blood Claw makes his saves. In return mactire swings his Power Axe and wounds the creature three times, the kraken saves two but fails a wound.

Grey Mage the grizzled veteran on the battlefield fires his missile launcher on the kraken on C9. His aim was true and wounds the creature twice, killing the kraken outright.

1) You are all given 48hrs to send in your instructions to the Hunt-Master. The sooner I receive your instructions, the faster I can roll the dice.

3) If I forgot someone or if I missed something, please let me know! I am sure to miss things along the way.

--EDIT--

Alright folks, sorry for the delay! Anyway, the way I did the movement/actions were from each of your post from the moment they are posted. Think of it as a timeline. I guess it also shows how we react in the moment, but I marked it as glory hungry for a worthy saga. Each pack have a silver bullet, indicating a kraken kill.

Going forward should you wish to coordinate better amongst your pack-mates, I would humbly suggest that you designate one person in your pack to post your final instructions to help make things so smoother in the future.

This may be me being a numpty, but I'm surprised the Kraken didn't move.

While Sigvard did kill the kraken I was aiming for, why didn't I move?

Also, I may have missed something, but why didn't jbickb's melta hit instant kill the kraken?

Moving forward, this is what I'd suggest for our pack: Sven and jbickb unload on the pair of beasties at B2. I'll move up shoot the kraken at C1 then charge it. Ace and Sigvard either back me up, or go for what's left at B2.

Thoughts? Criticisms? Better Ideas?

I should really be working on my ETL pledge, however

This is awesome! kind of reminds me of Nrthstar when he made a tavern brawl template.

Oh they moved! just didn't add it on time before your post.

*Looks at both Wolf Lord Keiran and Grey Mage*

I recognize my failing and be sure to correct it! I apologize for my actions. I couldn't hear your instructions due to the noise of my heavy bolter hahaha.

*Tosses heavy bolter on the ground*

Screw this... I'm using the missile launcher!

So my schemes are out of date and not viable before I typed them?sad.png

Also, why no Instant Death from melta hit????

And why didn't I move?

With the new Kraken positions, I'd recommend the following for my pack:

I'll shoot then charge the Kraken at D1, sven should join me in the smashing the kraken, as we don't have a juicy target for the flamer. Sig and Ace gang up on C2, and jbickb hit either C1 or D3, assuming that s8 will drop the T4 kraken, otherwise back one of our pairs up. Don't split the pack!!!

Once again:Thoughts? Criticisms? Better Ideas?

The blood pumped through his veins furiously as tore across the ice towards his foe. Salvos of bolt rounds tore past him and the flare of flamer and melta charges burned the hair on his beard. All thought of caution fled him as his mind was filled with murder. He approached the Kraken with wild abandon and paid the price for his carelessness. The Kraken whilst cumbersome in appearance was much faster than the Blood Claw had thought. With scything talons the Kraken threw itself at him, he was saved only by his gene-enhanced reactions and the resilience of his power armour, yet it was not enough to stop his life-blood being spilled on the sea-ice.

The sight of his blood staining the ice below and pain of the fresh battle-wound he had received drove him into berserk fury, bringing Carwennan to bear on the creature; he hacked at it in a blistering display of fury and rage. At first the Kraken resisted but such was the Blood Claws’ rage, it was not long before the creature’s life-blood stained the ice alongside his own and its lifeless body lay ruined the blows from the ancient axe.

Leaping atop his trophy-kill he threw his arms out wide and howled long and loud. The howl could be heard across the plateau and his brothers and sisters knew the first kill belonged to him. Across the battle ground he could hear the sound of more kraken-death, he smiled; this was how the Sons and Daughters of Russ hunted. He thought of tacking a trophy for his totem belt, but he jumped down and looked to his brothers, for he was hungry for more murder-make they were not short of prey.

Brothers my headlong charge nearly cost me in that exchange. I agree with Leif that myself and Ace should take the Kraken at C2 together.

As D3 appears empty I will shoot C1 on my turn.

Definitely confused on the no Instant Death as well.

I nominate lief as our resident tactical poster he posts the moves list so anything we say is discussion til then

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jbickb let out a snarl of delight as his meltagun, Solbjorg, seared the flesh from the kraken. The blood claws around him engaged with reckless abandon, one even taking a hit but despite their new, Un honed skills, they were effective. After all one can make up for the lack of training with a little madness.
Calmly jbickb selected his next target. The wolf scratched at the back of his mind but he pushed it aside for now, his brothers needed him in this capacity more. Plus there would be plenty of time for the wolf to come out and play later...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The battle was on.
Sigvard had thrown himself at one of the kraken, a whirlwind of fury and anger. Ace had fired a few rounds from his pistol at the kraken, but the creature shrugged them off as though he had thrown a stick at it.
For a moment Ace considered charging in as well, but held his ground, unwilling to leave Jbickb without backup. As the creature knocked Sigvard back, blood spattering across the ice, however, Ace rushed forward.
It proved an unneccesary move - Sigvard hauled himself upright, and with a roar he threw himself back into the fray, attacking like a relentless engine of death. As the kraken slumped to the floor, unable to shrug off the wounds it had taken, Ace called out to his pack-brother.
"Sigvard! This way!"
Another kraken reared up in front of the White Hawk. Bringing his mace up, Ace readied himself for the charge.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
I'll also nominate Leif for being our pack's spokesman - his tactics are sound.turned.gif
I'll group up with Sigvard on C2, so the kraken has more than one target, maximizing Sigvard's chances of survival. thumbsup.gif
My apologies as I've said earlier, I will make mistakes along the way and there will be a chance of something being missed either on the thread itself or during an edit on my adobe photoshop via map making.
Now that you've mentioned it that is weird! I've checked the table with the Small Kraken stats, for some reason the 6+ invul save wasn't added on during the cut and paste. It is there but it doesn't show on the actual table, it might be some weird html thing that I've missed while making that table. Anyway, I did roll for it and the kraken made the save. A reason why the kraken didn't just disintegrate, and why I said it made the save.
As for the you not moving. All you stated was that you were going to "back them up" that could mean several things, but it also does not specifically state that you were moving along side your pack mates. Please keep in mind that the majority of the other users here have stated, that they were either "going to move" or asked to be "placed at."
I will update/redo the Kraken stats or remove the table altogether. My apologies! but if you are unhappy with the results or my answers and should you wish it, I can restart and or undo/redo the game altogether to your satisfaction. But I've got to be fair to people here at the same time. This isn't much of an excuse on my end but you've also got to realize this is all done on my own free-time. Mistakes will happen from both sides.
