Rylanor had single handedly crushed a Kraken to earn the first kill for his pack, but this was nearly not so.Impetuous to reach the Kraken, Rylanor had thrown caution to the wind and sprinted full tilt at the beast. Firing his Bolt Pistol recklassly at the creature in a foolish attempt to wound such a monster. At that exact moment Rylanor stumbled in his haste and threw off his aim, sending the Bolt Round millimetres past the Krakens skull.The beast was quick to react, surprising young Rylanor as he had not expected the monster to be so agile. The Kraken struck out and inflicted several telling blows to the Blood Claw, had it not been for the protective function of his MK4 battle plate, this would surely have been the end of Rylanors Saga.Composing himself, Rylanor took to the offensive and cuaght the next attack in his Power Fist. The Kraken roared as Rylanor crushed the beasts bone and flesh before ripping the limb from the creature.The Kraken howled in agony and rage, before trying to retreat, knowing that it was no longer the superior predator on the ice. Rylanor could see that the Kraken was wounded and trying to escape, not relenting in his assault and sensing the fear from the monster, Rylanor luanched himself at the beasts head.The Power Fist Struck with a force like thunder cracking the monsters skull, the Kraken wailed in agony and flailed its limbs in desperate hope of saving itself, from the killer attacking it with a force it had never expirenced.This was the end, the Kraken sensed it. Rylanor punched through the wound in the skull of the monster, crushing bone, flesh and brain matter as he reached for the Krakens spinal cord. Howling in triumph Rylanor pulled the foul creatures vertibrae through its skull, where the icy air cooled the steaming blood that dripped from the macabre trophy.Its life extinguished, the Krakens lifeless carcass slumped to the ground, never to terrorise the waters of Fenris again.Rylanor Skull Smasher deftly rolled clear and surveyed the hunting fields around him, in doing so he thought to himself, finally a saga of my own to sing. Reede Posted May 18, 2014 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I will move to D8 and let loose the Wolves Flame into C8 and the two Krakens therein. ********* Reede was proud to see his brother dispatch the first Kraken, to hear it's screams as it's seared flesh was rent under his brothers attacks. Though he wishes nothing more than to throw the flamer down and revel in the murder-make, he knows it is not yet time. Some of his longer fanged brethren might jest that it were almost his time to ascend to Grey Hunter. Leaving his brothers to finish off the other monster, Reede moves to the side to stem the other advancing Kraken, knowing that he must hold the line. He will not give them one step. With a throaty howl he brings his flamer up again and let's the promethium flow towards the beasts. Mactire shooting on C7, then assault same (not sure if I can shoot or charge if I'm already in cc? if not then continue assault phase). Fytharin moving to D8, flaming both on C8, then charge into C8. Reede moving to D8, flaming both on C8, no assault. Dizzy no move, melta on C7 (if already dead from Mactire then melta on C8), no assault. Hope everyone happy with this, if Dizzy wants to do different Mav then go with that, we are after all "independent characters". If I've understood correctly, this is our plan up to now: With the new Kraken positions, I'd recommend the following for my pack: I'll shoot then charge the Kraken at D1, sven should join me in the smashing the kraken, as we don't have a juicy target for the flamer. Sig and Ace gang up on C2, and jbickb hit either C1 or D3, assuming that s8 will drop the T4 kraken, otherwise back one of our pairs up. Don't split the pack!!! If shooting at the kraken on C2 before I charge it is an option, I'd like to do that, just in case I can scrape a wound off the beast before the melee begins. Skadi shoots her Missile launcher at the kraken on C11. It hits and wounds, exploding the kraken in pieces. The entrails and blood rain down on the pack as they all howl in victory. Crazywolf fires his Heavy flamer at the kraken on D12. It engulfs the kraken as it fails its save. It dies in agony, and angers nearby kraken.Arez with his Heavy flamer aims at the two kraken on C8. It burns the two kraken, killing only one. Grey Mage shoots off a krak missile on the remaining kraken on C8. It hits hard and kills the kraken on site. Wolf Lord Keiran had his sights at the kraken on C11, but since Skadi killed it earlier had decided to shoot his Cyclone missile launcher at the kraken on B10 instead. The first volley of krak missile missed, however the second one hit and killed it instantly.Meanwhile.Rylanor shoots his Bolt pistol at the kraken on C6. He hits and the kraken takes a wound. "Aim for their eyes!!!" yelled Brother Rylanor. mactire shoots his Bolt pistol at the kraken on C7 but misses. Fytharin readies her flamer while the wulfen within is waiting to be unleashed. Stading face to face with the kraken on C8 she finds herself suddenly covered in entrails and kraken blood. She turns around to find Reede beside her as they both turn towards the direction of Arez and Grey Mage. The two give a nod of approval for the assist. Arez in return sticks out his tongue while pulling his nose up to resemble a fat hairy laughing squig. Fytharin instead shoots her Flamer at the kraken on C7 as she sees mactire fail to wound with it with his Bolt pistol. The flamer wounds but the kraken makes it's save. Reede does the same with his flamer but fails to hit the kraken altogether. Both mactire and Fytharin assault the beast in close combat. mactire berserk charges with his Power Axe, while Fytharin unleashed the wulfen. Dizzyeye shoots his Meltagun but misses, as both mactire and Fytharin quickly jump at the kraken. Leif Bearclaw shoots his Bolt pistol at the kraken on D1. He aims for the eyes and wounds the creature. The kraken is now down to two wounds. Ace and Sigvard both shoot their Bolt pistols at the kraken on C2 but doesn't even put a scratch on the monster.jbickb aims his Meltagun at the kraken on C1 as it disintegrates. The flesh boiled and melted into a puddle of ooze. rune priest sven aims his flamer at the kraken on D1 and the kraken takes a wound. The kraken is now down to its last wound, as the two warriors pounce on the monster. Ace and the dazed Sigvard rush into close combat with the kraken on C2.As mactire and Fytharin assault the kraken on C7. The startled kraken was first to react but was only able to land two blows. mactire fails his save while Fytharin makes her save. Fytharin loses her composure as she sees her packmate fall to the ground. She unleashes the mark of the wulfen on the creature, striking it seven times with reckless abandonment. Four hit their mark, one being a rending gouch right in the eyes of the kraken. The kraken screams in pain as it dies. "I have avenged you wolf brother" she says. mactire does not make his Ld test and remains on the ground. The first casualty of the day. Blood in the snow.....The kraken facing Leif and sven was only able to strike two blows. Wounding Leif with one, but Leif makes his save. In return the two Blood Claws berserk charge into the kraken but out of all their attacks, only a single blow from each of their weapons connect. The kraken fails its last wound. The kraken dies in defeat! "my kill" says sven, "no it was mine!" says Leif.. their rivalry is born.The kraken on C2 strikes first, but was only able to land two wounds between Sigvard and Ace. Both Ace and Sigvard fail their saves. Sigvard falls onto the snow. While Ace makes his Ld test and is able to remain standing with negative -1 WS and -1 BS. Using his Power Maul and what strength he had left, Ace was able to wound the creature twice. Killing it outright. Ace falls to his knees, defiant to the bitter end.
