Heresy era guard regiments supporting World Eaters

Hi guys & gals, being a bit lazy here but does anyone know off the top of their heads (or where I can find) which guard regiments were supporting the world eaters in any campaigns pre / mid-heresy? I've read most of the HH books, where I'm sure I could find references, but it's been a while and I can't be bothered doing a skim back through.

I'm doing a guard army as support to my heresy world eaters (for tanks, obviously) but would like to keep it fluffy.

The story is along the lines of a band of world eaters and support being separated from the main WE force prior to Isstvan & hence missing the massacre and therefore may still be loyal, may not... but their militarum support is going to be loyal to the WE no matter.

Essentially means I can fight loyalists or chaos at my whimsy cool.png

Cheers

In the HH books, there are all sorts of crazy regiments, from parade dress peacocks to genhanced yellow armoured psychos, so if I were you, I'd just choose something you want to paint. After all you're going to be painting tons (and tons) of them

In Betrayal, they have some examples listed as being allied with the War Hounds / World Eaters, and also resided with them on the planet Bodt. They list feral world head-hunters inducted into the Imperial Army, abhumans on the edge of tolerated genetic deviance, and Numen Gun Clans (techno-barbarians).

The World Eaters' mortal support elements were "a carnival of monsters assembled for the Emperor's amusement," as Sanguinius put it.

Therefore you can go with whatever you want. Personally, I would try incorporating some models from FW's Vraks renegade militia range. Hell, you can paint up some models from the Mechanicum list even, since the XII Legion had its dedicated support in the form of the Sarum tech-priests.

The Numen Gun Clans for one.

You can honestly model them however you want but it was a name dropped. I can look for others. It's in the World Eater fluff and Sanguinius even pops a quote in there.

Edit- actually a perfect representation would be the Airborne Crusaders of Helsing Ultimate series. I find it funny as a Catholic myself that they made a crusading, machine gun toting, airborne Catholic militant wing in the series, but hey we can all laugh at ourselves.

Double edit-

These bad boys look like a Numen Gun Clan to me :P

KKK of the 31st millennium?

Lol I tried editing that out of my post, that's just what sprung to mind. It's probably something completely different, but my brainwashed American mind hears "Clan" and thinks of those bad guys.

Actually that picture is the 9th crusader airborne wing. So Catholic KKK machine gun toting air cavalry dudes to be exact. How this came to be I don't know...it's just anime so roll with it.

I think mixing the new IG models (whatever stupid name GW is calling them now) with Chaos Marauder bits would go a long way with making techno-barbarians. Perhaps some Catachan bits, too. Plenty of third party manufacturers make pieces that would work quite well, like Victoria Lamb's Abhuman units.

When I hear world eater guard regiment, I think of these two images

Their both from this guy, http://aerion-the-faithful.deviantart.com/#

You could easily remove the chaos symbols, and you get harden vet guardsmen with loyalty to the WE.
