iWarsaw
Awesome vow! Awesome everything. The plane on the left is my favourite. Lightnings are now done. 30/160 models done, and about 12% of the way through my vow points wise. I still have a long way but hopefully I'm on a decent schedule. Do straighten out those yellow lines on the right though! steve shields
Ok so here is an update of what I got done, from before the forum crashed until now. steve shields
Just got the pink horrors done This puts me at 28.5% points wise and 78/160 done models wise. And yep forgeworld baneblade, I bought it and then the next month they announced the plastic kit. Something like that anyway, time may have made the gap seem shorter. Forté
Prefer the engine parts on the FW version anyway. 28.5%! That's a ton or two of points straight away. Nice horrors too. Chronotonic
Man I am glad I can help with the ELT vow but then I see the 17k and think hmmmm my 2k is nice...butttt a couple thousand more points would be nicer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290907-etl-iii-steve-shields/page/2/#findComment-3699641 Share on other sites
steve shields
Capitano, I think you are understating your part. I keep seeing you knock these vows out, don't sell yourself short. but I mean if you want to add a lot more....I won't stop you :P Got three more tanks done, spent forever on that seige shield and its still not perfect, but without painters tape I'm not sure I can get it any better. 5 Point upgrade, not worth the hassle but it looks nice haha. (just put the picture up and now i see a bit of yellow that bled, didn't notice it on the model sigh this shield is a pain.) Augustus b'Raass
steve, I think it is better to wait until you have some painters tape than waste your time on danger stripes you yourself aren't satisfied with! Once you have the tape, it's SO much easier to do with exponentially better results... You can get it at any hardware store (which has a higher adhesive than modelling tape, so make sure you first coat the desired space with Satin and then Matt Varnish before you stick it on). steve shields
Do they have the super small kind I would need though? I had checked a bunch of hardware stores when I was still in Virginia and they didn't have any. I mean they are a commonwealth and all so maybe it was just another weird Virginia thing. Augustus b'Raass
OK two words: knife + ruler (the sharp kind and the metal kind, respectively, of course. Just cut the painting tape along a metal ruler with a very sharp knife and you'll be golden. I did it with my titan and when the pics are up you'll see it's fine). Forté
Churning that armour out now Steve. You've already painted more than most of us in the Chaos faction. steve shields
This week had some slow progress. Terminators are a huge PITA with all that detail and trim. But I finally got finished with my 15 terminators and 3 terminator characters. However, it did come out to 1014 in points so I can't complain too much. Next up is some quick armor to try and keep my 2k a week goal. daemonclaw
Alright so today was rather productive, i got the five LRBT finished as well as started and finished a shadowsword. 40% done! mad vow brother ,i think i would have gone crazy(ok crazier) doing even a tenth of what you have achieved. on a side note are you painting black first then yellow stripes as it looks like in the left hand picture? if so i think youll have more success painting the whole area yellow first then do black stripes Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290907-etl-iii-steve-shields/page/2/#findComment-3711659 Share on other sites
steve shields
Alrighty got some more tanks done today, had to make up for the slow week afterall. DC does it really make that much of a difference? I'll have to give it a try on the next hazard stripe thing. Forté
It's always easier to paint black over lighter colour than it is with yellow. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290907-etl-iii-steve-shields/page/2/#findComment-3711971 Share on other sites
Augustus b'Raass
I totes agree. A white undercoat and then yellow first makes a WORLD of difference. Then a coating of 'ard coat or satin varnish. Then masking tape. Then black. Perfect results. Guaranteed. Nice tanks btw. The danger stripes *are* improving! steve shields
Ok I'll have to try that on the forge fiends. I think they are going to be the next thing I am doing with hazards. Here is another shadowsword that I just finished. Chaeron
I mark mine up, basically drawing it in pencil or whatever, and use a brown first before moving up to yellow. Works better that way I find! Can't fault anything else though - keep it coming my friend!
