Tiger9gamer
So this guy popped up in the legion rules and I'm intriguied. Who is this guy? Whats his fluff? what does he use (because apparently nothing else is available wargear wise) Thank you! Olis
Alvarex Maun follows on in the same vein as Crysos Morturg and Castrmen Orth - they are unique (or are at the time of printing) characters developed exclusively for the FW HH books. All the fluff there is of them, for now at least, resides within those books. As characters, they have the use of whatever is given to them on their stats page, nothing else. Conn Eremon
I believe he is the Raven Guard guy responsible with overseeing planetary assaults, notable for his ability to take in wars that span continents and act and think accordingly, as well as saving Corax's life at Isstvan by getting him out of the main slaughter areas. Tiger9gamer
I know about the wargear (i'm trying to find it out myself) but I still want to know more about the guy. I think it's interesting that he is the one who saved Corax too. Was it the marine captain in Raven's flight? Conn Eremon
I believe he is pure Forge World, but I could be wrong. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290947-who-is-strike-captain-alvarex-maun/#findComment-3683411 Share on other sites
b1soul
^ Pretty sure he's pure FW too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290947-who-is-strike-captain-alvarex-maun/#findComment-3683423 Share on other sites
Tiger9gamer
So what does the FW say about him besides what we already know? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290947-who-is-strike-captain-alvarex-maun/#findComment-3683427 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
Pretty much what I said. The Master of Descent was in charge of the Legion's planetstrike attacks, but he liked to lead from the front lines. So he would be part of the first wave establishing a beachhead. Coordinating the dispersal and formation of the Legion's assets while being an active part of the battles themselves. He did the same on Isstvan, supposed to be his greatest achievement. When Corax ordered the retreat, the Strike Captain got in his command Thunderhawk, picked up the Primarch, and flew him to safety. In the process, his bird got destroyed, the pilots were killed, and he was badly injured. And that's it. Left open for people to use him post-Isstvan, though I'm sure he does die. Tiger9gamer
That guy sounds awesome :D thank you. Interested to know how he died though. Does it say? Emperor's Furor
Afaik only he and Corax survived the thunderhawk going down, after that they met up with other elements, not sure if he survived his injuries though during this time. Olis
Considering he's not mentioned in Deliverance Lost (logically you'd think so considering he's a character created after that book came out), I'd be inclined to expect him to die on Isstvan V. However, if he is chronicled after Isstvan somewhere, that'd be great. Conn Eremon
Agreed. He seems like he would be an obvious choice to lead one of Corax's reformed Legion subgroups, or at least be present as part of the main Legion command, if he had survived. There is potential for his survival, however I prefer to think he died at some point during the long months after the initial massacre. It does note that he was badly injured. Edit: And while we know Corax reunites with his Legion, the absolute last thing we hear of the Strike Captain is that he and Corax survive the crash landing, but that he is badly injured. That is the end of the fluff blurb attached to his rules, which is the only mention of him anywhere, as far as I know. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
There is evidence of survivors of the Dropsite Massacre living to escape the planet, such as the Sallie+IH who board the Sons of Horus ship and escape. Conn Eremon
That would have been a suitably grim conclusion to Maun's tale, but I can't say I wouldn't have been livid if that had been the case. b1soul
Could he be the dude that's Sevatar's pet? ...not likely, unless his name was changed from Alvarex Maun to Alastor Rushal [sp?] Alvarex Maun also seems to be a hardcore loyalist hero, whereas Alastor Rushal seems to have defected to the Traitors ...or maybe Rushal is secretly loyal (an infiltrator) or maybe he's Alpha Legion...LOL, who knows Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290947-who-is-strike-captain-alvarex-maun/#findComment-3683893 Share on other sites
