JeffTibbetts
Hey all. I'm working on setting up a poor-man's standing desk (pics to come. I posted one on my Twitter feed @linguartisan) and I have lots of nice natural light in the room. I want to put my desk right under the window, which faces the South. It shouldn't get tons of direct sunlight, but there's another window that faces East and will get some. My question is: has anyone noticed any ill effects on paint from direct exposure to sunlight? What if I leave a model on the window sill? How about paint pots? I'm sure it'll dry out paints, but is that the worst of it? I don't have any resin, so I'm not worried about melting. Lucien Eilam
I have miniatures that haven't noticeably faded since the 80s. A few hours/days while they're on your painting table shouldn't do anything to modern acrylics. Don't leave paint pots in direct sunlight though, they'll dry out much more rapidly. Resin wouldn't "melt" in sunlight. It might droop slightly, but that's all. You can dunk it in boiling water without losing any detail. Dragonlover
Get a daylight bulb for your painting room. Sure, at first it's terrifyingly bright but my god it makes so much difference. I don't mean a lamp either, I mean just have it as the main light in the ceiling. I think they're worth the trouble. :D Get a daylight bulb for your painting room. Sure, at first it's terrifyingly bright but my god it makes so much difference. Hadn't even thought of that. Great idea! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290967-sunlight-fading/#findComment-3684882 Share on other sites
