Alien Xenomorph skin colour?

Recommended Posts

Don't shoot me for using the X word. I'm still painting power armour. Well, daemon engine to be precise.

I've been trying to figure out how to paint the biomechanics on my Forgefiend and then it hit me. What is the scariest biomechanical thing to be on film. Alien! As in Ridley Scott and H.R. Giger.

Now comes the tricky part. The skin colour.

To me it seems a mix of dark green, brown, blue and with a metallic sheen. This would be built up over a black base.

Does anybody have other ideas. And I'm only thinking Alien or Aliens. Not the later films or comics.

Many thanks.

I am joining the Giger remorial thread. His work is my mental reference point for dark admech and especially slaneeshi biomechanics since I first saw it.

if haven't already search coolminiornot. They had some awesome Alien busts and dioramas which seemed to be pretty close tothe movie colors (can' t really access that from my mobile at. the moment)

Which thread is that one?

I often forget to used CMoN for some reason. Probably because I don't like to see people's models rated as it can be disheartening.

Funny that you mention Slaanesh too ;)

A lot of his design work on the original alien was designed to be somewhat phallic in reference - hence the later variants he regarded as completely going against the aesthetic he was trying to portray.

I'd go for a dark grey base, wash with blacks, blues, greens in varying quantitites and sheens across the surface.  Edge highlight with very shart highlights to add to the hi-gloss effect.
