Reclusiarch Darius
admin/ Looks like we're back on an even keel with this thread. As I mentioned earlier, please keep gender politics and other 'real world' concerns to other forums. We're about toy soldiers and 40k here. If the thread devolves again I'll just lock it and we'll start over. /admin Space Marine Battles book. The Hunt for Voldorius. Passably entertaining read, IIRC. It's mentioned in a bunch of sources, some which predate our latest codex by some time. It's basically a nano-machine collective that replicates by consuming blood cells (equal parts efficient and horrific). In other places it has manifested as a sentient force with the ability to interact with humans (I think it actually takes a vaguely human form and tries to speak to Astartes battling it), in our codex story it just sorta gets corrupted and eats everything. It's probably one of the more intriguing super-weapons from the Golden Age. Life-eater is a biological attack, nova cannons are basically equal parts matter accelerator cannon + atomic warheads, but this...what kind of enemy did they encounter that required the Bloodtide to overcome? I'm keen for GW to actually explore Golden Age at some point in the fiction. The tantalising glimpses we get in 30k and 40k hint at an empire that basically cowed Eldar, Orks etc with unstoppable machine armies backed up by demi-god overlords and all manner of incredibly advanced super-weaponry for stuff their conventional forces couldn't destroy.
