Quozzo
I was thinking what is the cheapest way to get a psycannon and then it hit me, an inquisitor. Sure it costs 80 points for everything so two will be 160, but that's only 20 points more expensive than a purifier squad with 2 psycannon. The inquisitors however have relentless, 3 wounds and 2+/5++, all for the extra 20 points. So something like this may be interesting. Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) - Prescience (30) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) - Prescience (30) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) - Prescience (30) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) Inquisitor, TDA, Psycannon (80) - Prescience (30) Total 1720 One inquisitor in each squad becomes a psyker and is thus able take prescience (presumably) which can buff his own squad. The beauty of this though is the inherent split fire nature of each squad. As each is composed of independant characters then any inquisitor can move out of his squad in the movement phase to finish off a unit that has some models still clinging on to hope. Watchya think? Reclusiarch Darius
Haha, that's gonna be hilarious in Unbound games. I'd throw in a few hammers on them, but that's just me. I guess force axes are good enough. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3688411 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
They come with Hammers by default mate. That's an *awesome* list. Edit: You're paying only 26.6~ points per TDA wound. Cheaper than a Paldin. 20 Psycannons. Ouch! Edit; For 1750 points, how about 25 OX Inquisitors with Conversion Beamers? 1750 on the nose. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3688454 Share on other sites
boreas
I'd expect WYSIWYG models :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3688490 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
They come with Hammers by default mate. Oh wait that's right, its the psycannons that are the upgrade. Wow. That's nasty as hell. Still, T3 undoes things a bit. Massed S6 will insta-gib :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3688491 Share on other sites
Quozzo
Im liking the conversion beamer list, with unlimited range you dont have to worry about getting into range of their weapons. You could exchange a few OX inqs for OM psyker inqs for rerolling scatter distances. Quozzo
Hmm, Mordrak can deepstrike on the first turn with all those inquisitors attached, without scattering too which is good as I have no idea how wide the outermost shell will be. He even has hammerhand to buff the 45-ish hammer attacks although I will need to lose a few inqs in order to fit mordrak in. Still, 60 psycannon shots in your face turn one is not to be sniffed at. Gentlemanloser
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Mordrak (200) Ghost Knight (40) Inquisitor, TDA, NFH, Psycannon (80) x18 Total: 1,680 DS that blob first turn. Pew Pew. Quozzo
Although not strictly an Ordo Malleus list as it can't be taken by Grey Knights or the Inquisition. The Damocles Rhino has the orbital bombardment rule for 75 points... I think you know where I'm going with this. Someone believes unbound lists can mix codices which allows any codex to take them, that's 20 orbital bombardments in a rather conservative 1500 list. That makes the 20 psycannon list above look like a pea shooter by comparison. Maybe split them both, 10 rhinos and 10 inquisitors in case anyone gets too close for the orbital bombardment. jeffersonian000
Reminds me of that old Apocalypse army composed of 1 Inquisitor and enough Orbital Bombardments to fill the rest of your contribution to the game. 3000 points? That's 59 randomly scattered large blast marked .... every turn .... while the sole model on the table sits on a beach chair sipping margaritas. Valerian
Someone believes unbound lists can mix codices which allows any codex to take them, That's correct, "Unbound" lists are not bound/constrained to a codex; it's literally take whatever you wish. You could close your eyes, spin three times, point your finger into your model cabinet and take whatever you happen to be pointing at - repeat until point limit for the game has been exhausted. sirk
Don't want to shock anyone but.. this is actually a Battle Forged list o_O Since there is no limit to the number of detachments you can have in an army, and since an Inquisitorial detachment only requires a hq choice by default, you can have any number of them in a regular battle forged list. I know, it is absurd, but it is. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3703562 Share on other sites
sirk
Anyway, my 2 cents on it: Mordrak is a must in this list, as it allows you to bomb everything in your opponent's base in the first turn. In order to have him, you need a GK primary detachment. I would take it by adding Draigo to they fray and a couple of single pallies as troops. Then i would go for invisibility by adding psykers. With all those D and Str10 blasts around it really makes the difference. Oh, and no Ghosts at all. One Ordo malleus with psycannon for 80 is much better than 2 of those termies. It would end like that: Draigo (275) Mordrak (200) 7x Ordo Malleus, terminator with psycannon, psyker (770) 4x Ordo Malleus, terminator with psycannon (320) Paladin (55) Paladin (55) Paladin (55) 2 Acolytes and 1 Psyker (18) tot 1748 True you have much less firepower, but you manage to have 14 warp charges and roll 10 times for powers, that gives you a very very high probable Invisibility first turn. No bad these days..Edit: I'd probably make space for a single Ghost, just to add the Stealt rule to the party :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291109-ordo-malleus-list/#findComment-3703594 Share on other sites
Quozzo
I really didn't expect my inq list to be "battle-forged" I made it before 7th came out and we only had rumours. Nice catch. Regarding your list. Is that one unbound or are those inquisitors from C:I? I ask because C:I inquisitors Perils on any double, but C:GK inquisitors don't when it comes to santic powers. Something you might want to consider. If they are from C:I then there's no need for 4 troop choices as Draigo and Mordrak fit nicely in one FOC. sirk
Yes, the list is battle forged with the Ordo Malleus from C:I. They peril on any double just with sanctic and I wanted to use them for Invisibility. Problem is: with the current rules Inquisition still does not generate from telepathy. Anyway I expect them to be updated in a similar way to Gk, so let's just wait and see...
