CatSmasher
Hello all, I am wondering if its possible to include a WG to my long fangs pack in exchange for the squad leader, and if not, can I still put a rune priest in with said unit and grant divination? How would the "look out sir" work here? Looking to get an aegis for the campaign I am involved in since the points are going up and wondering what to put behind it. DobbyKroket
you can't exchange the squad leader but you can add a wolf guard and/or a rune priest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291117-long-fangs-with-squad-leader-battle-leader-and-hq/#findComment-3688891 Share on other sites
Valerian
Hello all, I am wondering if its possible to include a WG to my long fangs pack in exchange for the squad leader, and if not, can I still put a rune priest in with said unit and grant divination? How would the "look out sir" work here? So, Sven answered your question, but just to clarify: 1. The Squad Leader is part of the pack; he stays with it until killed, and you need him if you plan on using the Fire Control special rule (splitting fire to shoot multiple targets in a Shooting Phase. 2. A Wolf Guard may be split off from his pack to lead most of the other types of packs in the army list (a few exceptions, including Sky Claws), so one can be assigned to your Long Fang pack for the duration of the game. He would go there in addition to your Squad Leader, though; he doesn't replace him. Two popular choices for doing this are either a.) a "slick" Wolf Guard with no upgrades to act as a meat-shield, take the first Wound, and preserve your Squad Leader and Heavy Weapons, or b.) a TDA Wolf Guard with Cyclone Missile Launcher to add more Firepower to a unit that is already dedicated to long-ranged firepower. 3. Then, you can also attach any Independent Characters to the unit that you care to, including one or more Rune Priests. Right now it is popular to attach a Rune Priests to a Long Fang pack to do either one of two things, a.) add to the Firepower with Living Lightning, or b.) enhance the Firepower with Divination/Prescience. This, of course, is what folks do in 6e; when 7e breaks in 9 days it might be significantly different. CatSmasher
Thanks for addressing my concern. I suppose the benefit of the points saved on the squad leader would be a bit OP, especially if you have a new leader with 2+5+ I have certainly read the codex before asking by the way Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291117-long-fangs-with-squad-leader-battle-leader-and-hq/#findComment-3688959 Share on other sites
