Komrk
So just ball parking a mechanized list: HQ Librarian Troops 3x 10 Man Tactical Squads w/ Rhinos Elites 2x 6 Man Sternguard Squads w/ Razorbacks w/ TL AC Fast Attack Stormtalon Heavy Support 5 Man Dev Squad w/ 4 Lascannons and Razorback w/ TL LasCannons 2x Predators This is a rough list but it fits the theme I want with Mechanized Infantry with some CAS. My general plan would be to put the Librarian with the Devastator Squad. C:SM now has access to Divination so I would just roll on that and also get Prescience as the Primaris Power. They would camp the backfield with their Razorback taking out armor from range. The Tacticals would be mounted up in their Rhinos and push midfield. The Sternguard would push into the enemy deployment zone. The Predators would support the backfield and the Stormtalon would provide CAS for the armor. So my main question is what kit to throw on them. Sternguard will probably have either Combi Flamers/Meltas depending on the army. What should I throw on the Predators? I was thinking Autocannon with Las sponsons. So how does this list look, would it do better with certain tweaks etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291179-viability-of-mechanized-infantry/page/2/#findComment-3696154 Share on other sites
Tiger9gamer
C:SM has divination now? O.o sweetness. and I would take either vindicators or maybe even a knight to add to armor saturation. GreyCrow
Apparently not in the end. The new rulebook says that the Codex indicates the disciplines from which Psykers can generate psychic powers, so you'd have to refer to the entries for each psyker. A psychic card indicated that Marines could generate powers from Divination only indicates that Tiggy is not forbidden to do so imho. GreyCrow
It was indeed ! Back on topic, I'm currently building a semi mechanized Raven Guard army. The goal is mainly to have nasty Troops inside of transports, while non Troops will have other mobility means. Thus far, I'll be trying : 6 Tacticals, Melta, Veteran with combi-melta, Lightning Claw, Melta bomb, in a Razorback with Lascannon and TL Plasmagun. x2 or x3, depending on the point size. At 1250, I was under the impression that 2 would be sufficient (4 scoring units after all...) and I would be able to bring some fun units to play it. But the sheer damage these squads have on paper might drive me to bring a 3rd... Tiger9gamer
I suggest playing around with it, as I had mixed results with that kind of load out last edition. it can still be powerful, but it can die easily too. although all the games I play are usually at the 2,000pt mark. Komrk
Oh yeah another question for my list. What should I use for Chapter Tactics. IF would help my bolters which there will be a lot of. IH help the vehicles and the infantry themselves. Raven Guard would let me scout them up which wouldn't be bad. Either way they're gonna be painted as a custom chapter so it doesn't really matter. GreyCrow
IF should be more useful with that list to be honest. You don't have Jump Packs, and you have many bolters :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291179-viability-of-mechanized-infantry/page/2/#findComment-3696930 Share on other sites

GreyCrow
And you've got that Devastator unit, while only being a marginal part of your point count, will sure get to use that nice bonus against tanks ;) Out of curiosity, what loadout will you be running on your Tacticals ? Barebones Boltguns ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291179-viability-of-mechanized-infantry/page/2/#findComment-3696953 Share on other sites
Komrk
I think in the detailed list I made 2 had plasma guns and the third would had a melta or flamer can't remember which Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291179-viability-of-mechanized-infantry/page/2/#findComment-3697089 Share on other sites
GreyCrow
Fair enough ;) For your Predators, I would go full Lascannons if you have the points. You have sufficient anti-infantry, and you can't go wrong with even more anti-tank ! At least from what I saw in my current meta and on internet batreps, the lists that perform the most have a strong presence of MCs and/or Tanks, and I beleive at least 60 to 70% of all units should have high strength low ap weapons in sufficient numbers.
