Bat33.1
Reading Index Astartes II and the Black Templars origins Gav Thorpe has Corax and Ferrus Mannus backing Guilleman over the spliting of the legions and the introduction of the Codex Astartes. So when was this changed to Ferrus losing his head on Isstvaan or was this just a mistake of Gav Thorpes part in the Index Astartes article? Conn Eremon
I can't say with certainty, but I'm reasonably certain that was Gav's goof. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given what he has done elsewhere. Actually the Iron Hands Index Astartes is where it is first said he died on Istvaan V. So when was this changed to Ferrus losing his head on Isstvaan or was this just a mistake of Gav Thorpes part in the Index Astartes article? My copy of the old C:BT states "But Corax of the Raven Guard and Jaghatai Khan of the White Scars backed the Ultramarines", no mention of the Iron Hands. (Dorn was supported by Vulkan and Russ). If I remember well, the Iron Hands have always been leaderless at that point. They were eager to find guidance somewhere, so promptly supported and adopted the Codex Astartes. That might be what whichever book you are looking at references? Bat33.1
Index Astartes II The Black Templars - "Dorn would not relent, and neither would Guilleman; Leman Russ of the Space Wolves and Vulkan of the Salamanders agreed with Dorn for they too did not want their Legions scattered to the corners of the Galaxy, but Ferrus Mannus, Primarch of the Iron Hands and Corax of the Raven Guard backed the Ultramarines" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291288-the-death-of-ferrus-mannus/#findComment-3693733 Share on other sites
Leif Bearclaw
That Index Astartes was written before the Iron Hands got their IA article. Like Kol said, it was changed to Ferrus dying when the IH got their turn. Although personally I preferred the 'he was never seen to die, the IH believe he will one day return' ending for him from IA over the emphatic decapitation he got in the HH series, but that's just me. Kol Saresk
I preferred the part where it was suspected the Iron Hands had whisked away his body and then gave it a new head. Knight of the Raven
It obviously means that the Sapphire King took part in the argument for the Codex Astartes. Conn Eremon
I don't get it. The Sapphire King is the Daemon Prince of Slaanesh future of one beheaded Gorgon, because, I'unno, GW got bored with Fulgrim or something. Or so I have heard on this site, as I haven't gotten around to purchasing the Iron Hands supplement yet. So the joke is that it was the Sapphire King who was arguing for the Codex Astartes. Iron Father Ferrum
You may have caused at least another handful of Iron Hands players to quit As far as I'm concerned, post-Heresy fluff for the Iron Hands begins with Index Astartes III: Hand of Justice and ends with Space Marine Battles: Wrath of Iron. Whoever wrote the Raukaan supplement can die in a fire. Edit: Oooh, that'll make for a great disclaimer for my signature, actually...
