For which Legion?

Cataphractii: lame but better protection, but i like them tongue.png

Tartarus: best suit so far, good protection and mobility, i would choose legion for all beside emperor's children

Indomitus: not bad, but only Space Hulk, Deathwing and Space Wolve Termis from GW are good modells, others are old and haven't much detail's

Cataphractii for me! I went a little...overboard on mine. I was checking out this guy's thread the other day. It's Cataphractii Ultramarines and they're an inspiration. I believe the user is ColdWinter.

I like Cataphractii for the Ultramarines and legions with a more "classical" (UM) or brutal (IW, IF, DG) look. But honestly I just kind of go with what feels "right" IMO, like Tartaros for the BA, Alphas, and Raven Guard. Basically, if I feel that if a legions predominant armor mark would be mk II or III or favor sieges or heavy armor, then Cataphractii fits the legion. And if they would use a lot of mk IV or favor mobile tactics, then Tartaros. Exception being the Sons of Horus. That said though, I would like a mix of both for my army because the models are gorgeous.

Cataphractii for me to, ever since I first saw them I loved them, they truly did look lumbering behemoths that could take significant damage and shrug it off. Tartaros look weird imo at least the poses for them are and the indominatus are getting into the modern style.

I'm using Cataphractii for Raven Guard, because a.) I have them already and b.) it's mentioned the raven guards terminators, the deliverers, are used as a last resort when the fighting is hardest, so I don't think their speed is that important. I figure nomad predation fleets may of had them as well.

I field both in my World Eaters army. A full squad of ten Cataphractii Terminators in a Spartan Assault Tank in an "armored thrust" role and a command squad of five Tartaros Terminators as bodyguards for my Terminator Praetor.

Both have plenty of weapons options to choose from. As far as size goes, they are of the exact same height - the Cataphractii being bulkier, of course. The one thing that counts against the Cataphractii is that the kit comes with A LOT of flash. Careful trimming is a must.

Get both! :D

Here are mine.

I'm quoting this for emphasis, because those are exactly my thoughts on the subject.

I really like both, but I do think Cataphractii looks better than Tartaros, especially in the blue and gold of the XIII.

But if you're going with Tartaros, get the Legion variant. The non-legion set comes with Crux Terminatii and chest Aquilas, which are not appropriate for the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy setting.

Deliverer's have Cataphractii indeed^^

See the post above your post.

Terminator plate is designed for one thing, and one thing only; killing insanely dangerous things, in close quarters, with devastatingly effective weapons.

It doesn't matter what Legion you choose, the Cataphractii fits. It's not for stealth. It's not for looks. It's not for speed. It's not for a standard battlefield. It's for slaying monsters, cutting down heavy armour formations, and enemy elite.

With those targets in mind, you want the best armour, the best weapons, the best close quarters fighters. Cataphractii is the Apex Killer of the Legions. You don't need to look smooth and pretty with that in mind.

Forget the XIIIth for a second, what if say, a gentleman was leaning back towards his XVIIIth legion roots?...

Ooh...well the Fire Drakes that were recently displayed at the Weekender are in Cataphractii armor, but in Massacre, there's a picture of a Tartaros pattern terminator as a member of a bodyguard Phalanx for a Lord Protector Da'Ru. So, I guess both is still an option.

Surely the only one true answer to this question is - it's neither one of them but rather a combination:

Why, you ask - because this is how we roll. These are the beasts of any legion.

I do have some "pure" Tartaros ones also, but I'm keeping them for "another" project for now...
