Codex Inquisition Daemonblades

Am I reading it right that an Inquisitor can buy two daemonblades (replacing both bolt pistol and chainsword) and thus have four powers in total (some of which are limited to attacks made with either blade - some not)?

I ask because one of the characters I'm planning on including in my Astra Militarum with SM, =I= and IK allies army is a revamp of one of my Inquisitor 54mm characters, and four powers sort of fits her weapons (even if random):

Nakrian Blade Mistress (Assassin)

Vala

Equipment: The Four Blades of Nakria; Reflective Carapace Armour on Legs and Arms; Hexagrammic wards.

Special Abilities: Acrobatic; Ambidextrous; Catfall; Dodge; Feint; First Strike; Furious Assault; Lightning Reflexes;

Combat Master; Jump Back.

WS - BS - S - T - I - Wp - Sg - Nv - Ld

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

90 - 60 - 65 - 60 - 90 - 75 - 65 - 70 - 40

Special Equipment: The Four Blades of Nakria.

The Four Blades of Nakria are two pairs of swords each of which are said to have been forged during the legendary time when the Goddess Nakria's quiver of infinite arrows ran dry. Forced to hunt her prey with sword alone, she managed to hunt and defeat four of the most dangerous creatures of Nakrian Myth - The Harbornian Hawk, the Trelldesk, the Orith and the Ravamerna. It is said after defeating these creatures Nakria summoned Galrinak the God of Flame to forge those creatures essences into four separate swords - The Warhawk; the Soulsinger, the Whisperwind and the Devilslayer respectively. Vala found the four Blades deep within a forgotten Tomb Complex, which she discovered while hunting a Pack of Yaroian Lions in the Mountains of Galrinak.

The Four Blades of Nakria count as Swords that each have the Daemonic property Bound, in addition when drawn each blade has their own extra Daemonic Property as shown on the list below

The Warhawk - Flight

The Soulsinger - Entrance

The Whisperwind - Deflection

The Devilslayer - Daemonbane (Isn't affected by the other swords)

Also the swords have another ability if drawn with their matching partner see list below

The Warhawk and the Whisperwind - Magic Absorption

The Soulsinger and the Daemonslayer - Magical Force

Each essence has a willpower of 70

If Vala's willpower drops below 70 then she must test against each sword that is drawn. Roll a D10 to establish the order in which the test is made if two blades are drawn, 1 - 5 and the right hand blade is tested first, 6 - 10 and the left hand blade is tested first. Vala can only be possessed by one blade at a time (so the first Blade she fails against is the one that possesses her).

There's nothing to stop you taking two. Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable claiming the model was the "wielder" of two Two-handed melee weapons at the same time, but strictly speaking I don't think the rules stop you claiming the powers from both either, just the bonus attack.

You get the USRs from both blades, but the poisoned/ap/familiar/daemonhurting/=3str and such from only one at a time.   So if you happen to roll up one with FNP and EW and rage/FC  and then the other with ap2 and wounds on a 2+ i dont think i have to tell you which one you use to fight things, right?

Well considering it is to be modelled as four swords (two sets of two), I'd have to decide each round of combat which "set" she was using so she'd only get two powers per round (unless it is an ability that doesn't require attacking with the weapon).

but as you didn't mention which codex I assumed you were talking about C:GK.

I did twice. The title of the thread and the mention of =I= allies. Which is why I don't really like the fact that we have to discuss Codex =I= and Codex GK in the same section, too easy to cross wires.
