Reclusiarch Darius
The "can't be teleported" argument is false. Anything can be teleported. The reason why TDA tends to be preferred for teleporting assaults is more because of the heavier armor increasing survivability upon arrival rather than via the method of arrival. Fluff has gotten really mixed up over the years, yet we still see PA units teleporting without issue. One point that might be throwing people off is the Personal Teleporter, which eschews heavier shielding for portability, requiring either heavy armor (TDA) or a trained Psyker (PAGK). This has lead many to believe that only TDA can be teleported, which is patently false. Nomally, a Teleporter is ship or planet based, requires massive power, a dedicated Geller Field, and works by punching a corridor through the Warp from the Teleporter to the aimed destination. No Geller Field means no Warp shielding. GK Interceptors generate their own Geller Field, allowing them to punch corridors through the Warp with a man portable Teleporter. Psykers casting Gate of Infinity do the same thing. It is implied that TDA doesn't require a Geller Field due to the heavy armor, which may be the case, or it could be that a vehicle such as a Land Raider needs a "Warp Stabization Field" in order to pass through the Warp. As I mentioned earlier, fluff has gotten a bit mixed up over the years. Well to refine my argument, Centurion armour could be teleported, but A: the resources don't exist to do it (as teleportation is usually reserved for the Chapter's most elite units, ie First Company in TDA, in the case of Knights of course its just Purifiers that can't teleport for game rather than background reasons), and B: you need special training to be teleported. The Centurion suit is shunned by the First Companies of normal Chapters because it doesn't offer the flexibility or speed of TDA (which itself is cumbersome and reserved for heavy assaults where durability trumps mobility). As it is, First Company squads typically don't fight in TDA, but choose lighter PA for a lot of missions, because TDA itself imposes a lot of restrictions on the user. Centurions are piloted by battle-brothers from the Tactical and Assault Reserves respectively, because they're a niche unit that fits in between the TDA of First Company and the tactical requirements of say deploying Brother-Ancients to the field (who both can't fit easily into a lot of combat zones, and are much rarer). As it is, Centurions are further confined to siege operations, because they can't be transported by any of the Chapters vehicle pool (Land Raiders excepted, but they're mostly reserved for First Company use anyway), so they have to walk to their targets after being deployed closely via Thunderhawk (drop pods being unsuitable). My overall point is, Centurions are not necessary for Knights, in the same way that Predator battle tanks or Whirlwind artillery isn't necessary. Hell, Knights typically don't even use their Rhino and Razorback vehicles, because they so rarely engage in mechanised warfare (although obviously being still Space Marines, they require the option to exist if it is ever needed). The Chapter's main strength is its incredibly superior infantry, and its ability to deliver them into the heart of the enemy via the most advanced methods the Imperium possesses (respectively teleportation, and where that isn't possible Ravens). Daemons don't fight like conventional armies normally, and they can be banished en-masse if a small strike force closes the portal or source of the infestation. Thus the lack of need for a full compliment of support tanks, or the many variant squads and equipment normal Chapters utilise. I'm sure if Knights wanted Predators, or Sternguard special ammunition, or Centurion plate, they could very easily requisition it (the Ad Mech supply them with far rarer and more restricted stuff already). But from a strategic and tactical perspecitve, none of those things are required and are in most cases overshadowed by the existing wargear and equipment Knights possess. how about "If im going to have to lug around something that heavy, it blessed well better give me an invuln." Yeah well apparently the shield generator every Terminator suit has (I think we can infer the reference to 'a shard of the Emperor's suit in every Crux Terminatus' is probably only true of first-generation suits, very unlikely any later patterns would have it) does deflect energy of all types. Its not inconceivable that Terminator suits can withstand warp exposure for short periods, given they are based of an environment suit designed to work inside a plasma reactor.
