Pistols in Close Combat

havent yet touched the 7th ed BRB, but i take it the rumour of being able to use plasma pistols in CC (similar to how cypher does) was just a rumour?

Yeah, that didn't pan out.  Would have been nice to distinguish Plasma Pistol from Bolt Pistol in close combat, but no dice.

ahh boo, wouldve made plasma pistols well worth the points (and made wolf preists rather nasty in the first round of combat - which is what it was rumoured for). Ah well, roll on 8th edition :D

Actually firing a pistol in close combat would be nigh on challenging anyway I feel. Even just clubbing with the butt would be a last resort, hence why we just get its rules as a close combat weapon and not its full rules. :)

aye i think thats why cyphers rules for them only allow him to use them on the first turn...as its more as if hes using them when charging in...

anyway..no point worrying about that now the rule doesnt exist anyway ;)

it would definitely be better but the codex only lets them swap their guns ;(

one per squad can swap a CCW for the shield, it's listed next to thunder hammer, same points cost pge 90 of the codex. but it then means you can't take the speacial CCW.

So you can take 1 measly pot shot with a pistol before you charge. is it worth it? i think the speacial CCW is better, and really against most armies what is a single bolt pistol gonna do? not much in my experience. i dont think any of my thunder wolf cavalry have ever hit with a pistol, and if they do they never wound.

Yep, you're right. I wasn't really considering the swap you suggest because as you say, you should never ever do it! That special ccw is crucial, IMO.

I was hoping the rumoured rules change for pistols would occur in 7th (allowing you to use the pistol's Stateline for one of your attacks) - it might have been quite good for TWC.
