Gab
I know it's our hobby and I have always leaned towards rule of cool rather than WYSIWYG, but I really love the MKIV destroyer bodies. I haven't even really decided upon a legion yet but know I want to use destroyer bodies to fill out my troops choices. Can anybody see a problem with this, I know social games would be ok but would "Tools" at tournaments and the like have a problem with it? Grotsmasha
Nobody should care which torso/legs you use, as long as the weapons are correct. So a Destroyer torso with a bolter and standard backpack as a Tactical Marine will be A-Ok, expensive, but OK. Slips
+ since they have Jump Packs you can easily just give them a pistol/shield + CCW and have assault marines - but at that point youre better off buying the MK IV assault marines. Maybe magnetize some arms so you can switch between then at your leisure. -The MK IV torso is the same for the assault and destroyer units. Lucien Eilam
-The MK IV torso is the same for the assault and destroyer units. They're similar, but not the same. The Assault torsos have layered plates and straps for the jump pack extending from the shoulders. The Destroyer torsos are single plates with studs. Personally I'd say it's the extra plate on the greaves and the helmets that really make the Destroyer look, anyway. Having just built both MkIV Assault and MkIV Destroyers with Jump Packs - the Destroyers with Jump Packs are single unit torso + legs, rather than the Assault Marines which are seperate. Maybe the Destroyers on foot are different, but if not you're going to be limited in terms of swap-overs you can do with those parts. For my personal opinion, as long as they have the correct weapons on them then they're perfectly fine for use as regular marines. There are always additional sets of arms and weapons on eBay from people who have spares floating about, but the cost may be prohibitive. If I recall too, the pistols are pre-combined with the arms on the Destroyer kit, somehting to be aware of if you're planning to use the existing arms with new weapons. Emperors Teeth
Looking at the layered plates, they're like to the mkIV as the mkIII is to the mkII, if you follow? They'd be great for converting mkIV Breachers or representing Void Hardened armour. Gab
I just love MKIV destroyer armour, just looks bit more brutal to me. I've actually been wanting to do an Istvaan loyalists survivor force and it seems that marines it that MK and type of armour would be more likely to survive the various types of attacks, especially the chemical and viral attacks. Just seems fluffy to me, but I'd also include other armour marks. I've been wondering how to model Destroyers for a primarily MkII force, and maybe using MkIII could help? Hmm... Using the MK III breachers could work, as their void-hardened armour looks perfect for destroyer gear - you could swap their weapons with those of a despoiler kit, and you'd have a set of MK III destroyers & a set of breachers of whatever pattern you choose Edit: also, the Death Guard torsos would make awesome enhanced re-breathers for destroyers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291591-mark-iv-destroyer-armour/#findComment-3700458 Share on other sites
