Emperor's Furor
I'm considering putting a little twist on my Raven Guard, it comes in the form of adding some transfers from the Carcharodon transfer sheet to the normal Raven Guard uniform, to represent their part of a predation fleet and their tribal terran heritage? Atm I have terminators in cataphractii armour, some destroyers equipped with the death guard chest plates, two ten man units in mostly crusade armour but with a bit of mk IV V and VI pieces like heads, legs and back packs here and there in small numbers. What do you think, would it be ok? I was thinking I could perhaps try to convert the red wake to make it more cataphractii looking and his weapons would represent a pair of raven talons. Conn Eremon
Go for it. If you have Extermination, then you can see all the connections between the two. Phoros
Do it! Maybe add elements of Carcharadons grey to their armour? One of my favourite bits about the 30k era is drawing links to 40k factions. Tyberos the Red Wake
I think that's a cool idea. I'm kind of doing the 40K version of what you are. I'm using a Legion Praetor in 7th Battalion Raven Guard colors to represent Arkhas Fal for when I want to use a non-Tyberos HQ or Raven Guard chapter tactics. You don't even need to use shark transfers if you don't want to. Extermination shows an image of a early/pre-Carcharodon Raven Guard member and it's just dark grey armor with a little bit of black (no black shoulders yet, unlike modern Carcharodons). They used an eagle head symbol like the Raptors instead of the entire raven like the Raven Guard, and also the Terran Unification symbol with lightning bolts, since most members of the Predation Fleet would have been Terrans banished by Corax. You don't even need to convert Tyberos too heavily because his helmet is featured in HH3 and looks exactly the same. The armor is at least as old as M32. Conn Eremon
If you look at the Terran, pre-Primarch XIXth Legion look, on the left, you'll see that it has a lot of similarities to the Carcharadons, such as the grayer color and tattoo like markings. Current fluff for the Raven Guard is that when Corax took over, he wasn't too fond of the Terran Legion, and much of it was sent off on "nomad-predation" fleets, away from his, Deliverance-born, Raven Guard. I've heard people here say that the only other mention of these kind of fleets is in earlier Forge World books, talking about the Carcharadons. It seems like Forge World has provided you with everything you could need to fluff out what you are looking for.
