The Iron Priests Thread

I'll post pics of Jason Ogg tomorrow, but has anyone found a use for Iron priests that does not involve Thunderwolves? I really want to use the old model as I like it but even put in a squad he gets killed to quickly due to his low amount of attacks and challenges.

The reason you take Iron Priests is because its the cheapest way to get a 2+ into a unit of TWC. Theyre not particularly good on their own. The thunderwolf mount is just such a good boost to the priests statline.

The addition of T5 and the second wound is really good.

End of Line

I will be taking the wolf priest out for the first time yet. Just finished with the model and anxius to let him ride with the TWC. A pack of Wolf Lord/WGBL with fb+ss and 4 TWC, all ss, 1 th. Probably gonna run some cyberwolves with him. I'm facing an Eldar army with 2 Wraithknights and a Imperial Knight, so those 5 S10 ap1 hits will be needed...

Got the servoarm idea from here or from some other forum - used a TWC cyberleg and Vindicator loader mechanism.

Iron Priest on TWM

Still needs some tidying up. The white accents on the servoarm seem a bit "blobby" and the base is actually done by now.

I didn't think to magnetize the torso before assembling mine - I magnetized the butt and the saddle instead.  Torso magnets would have made more sense.

theres a lot in my army that i wish i'd magnetized first ><

torso does make it easier, i have another torso for running it as just another TWC guy. :)

just try and tease away the legs with great care? :)

Nah, I'll just keep it in mind for next time.

So far, my Venerable Dreadnought is the only magnetized job that's gone perfectly - I just magnetized a Grand Master Belial but some of the arms tend to naturally rotate to an orientation other than what I wanted in my test-fit.  But experience is showing me how to do it better next time!

i've just started magnetizing and had the same thing on the very first TWC i magnetized. The magnet i used first was 2x1mm which was enough to hold it on, but during play after a few bumps and such his thunderhammer slowly lowered itself as if giving up the will to carry on >< trial and error i guess :)

I've been using 3x2mm and they hold what you want where you put it. Hadn't intended to go that thick but was what the local shop had. I'd rather over do it than have a weak bond. Now I'm using 3x1mm which seems fine for power armor. Used the last 3x2 in my TWC saddles.

Hi. I used small electrical wire (metal thread with outer plastic case). It is very flexible but also keeps its shape once bent into position nicely. Got mine from a school I work at from offcast soldering projects, but pretty sure it is easy to pick up from a local hardware shop.

GW finally got Cyberwolves back in stock (I'd spent almost two months looking for them in every store between Pittsburgh and Buffalo) so I ordered myself four of them.  Now I can finish my Iron Priest project when I get back to painting my Wolves.

Here's a homemade IP that I hope to get done during the ETL. Hope it looks ok, ignore the legs as I think he might end up on a bike.

Any advice or comments are appreciated and will be taken on board (of course once the ship has sailed they may be thrown overboard tongue.png )

Ockham Ironfangs:

Fluff:

Half brother to Oort (my krakenbone WL), he was wild and always trying to live up to him. He compensated his lack of skill with rage, and as such was an excellent Blood Claw. However, during a small yet decisive skirmish, he waylaid most of green skin threat single handedly at the cost of many a body part. He was brought back to the Lava Forges, for the Iron Priests to augment back to fighting shape. During his recovery the the kraken hatch that kills many priests and elevates Arjak to the his current position commences. With so many IP's dead he is asked to ingest their brains and learn their trade. I thought this a fitting and fluffy way to get my warrior IP.

Looking at the pre-order plastic Iron Priest.

For those of you who are concerned, it would look like you can mount him on a thunderwolf from the torso up, due to the legs being separate, just replace using legs from thunderwolf SW marines. The only issue would be small adjustments with the excess tubes and pipes...
