At the end of VS Horus supposedly gains 'great power' from the warp gate. What are these powers?

Well this + essentially whatever it was the Emperor got. If you take Horus' words at face value, the E went in a powerful being, and returned a God. Horus would now consider himself a God.

Presumably, he can now get discounts on holoshow tickets and early bird specials in the Vengeful Spirit's commissary, and and he can yell at Lorgar, Fulgrim, etc to get off his lawn, back in HIS day, Primarchs didn't have all these fancy Warp magicks, they WALKED from one end of the ship to the other, five miles, in the snow, uphill, barefoot, AND THEY LIKED IT, because parents knew how to handle their kids back then, not like nowadays, with all their disco and their cortical implants and the not bathing and being walking suits of animated armor with no free will, why, he can remember back on Cthonia when....

I'm still leaning towards the Horus = the Emperor is a big Chaos lie.  Where the gods know that their only hope of defeating the Emperor.  Is to pump Horus up to the level where he really believes that he is a god.  Instead of a Chaos Primarch with centuries of extra experience and the Big E doesn't just smite him on sight.

they used to live in a corner of a cardboard box in the middle of a lake, worked 127 hours a day, woke up 3 hours before they went to bed the night before, and had to lick half a packet of hot gravel for lunch? Those rapscallions.

 

I think it'd be on a paralell to Abaddon, though in real terms, moments as opposed to 10,000 years, no demon sword or chaos imbued termie armour.

The Gods gave the Emperor Knowledge, which is why they couldn't deal with his betrayal, as for Horus I don't know but the old fluff suggested the powers fled from him when the Emperor owned him so who knows.
