With shield drones upgrade for broadsides do the shield drones need to be up front in order to be allocated the first wounds and receive the 4+ invul? It's also a invul just for the drone correct? Neither the codex or FAQ states that the shield drone applies it's invul save to the broadside, and such an action goes against standard rules, so it would have to be specifically stated as doing so in order to have that effect. So to take an invul save the shield drone has to be the closest model. So just blast away at the squad with bolters until you kill off the drones with volume of fire, then bring on the AP2 to get rid of the broadsides. GreyCrow Posted June 2, 2014 Share Posted June 2, 2014 The Tau player is playing with the ancient rules, where you could allocate wounds taken on your unit to a model you wanted, rather than the closer one. Now, if the drones are behind the Broadside, the suits takes the hits first.
