Teleporter is a must. He's just too slow and too easy to kill with ranged attacks otherwise. I know its expensive, but its worth every point when you Shunt into enemy lines or move 12" up a flank to threaten them. 

 

Your other mandatory upgrade is the greatsword. I cannot count the number of times I have flubbed rolls to hit and wound with him, and that has saved my life. Its also only powerfist price, so it very affordable. 

 

As for guns, I find the heavy incinerator the most consistently useful (the gatling psilencer is worthless garbage, and the heavy psycannon suffers from scatter and relying on 'Rending' to proc). You can place the template 12" from the DK, it doesn't scatter, and S6 AP4 Ignore Cover worries most infantry. 

The PT is expensive but with it and the torrent heavy incinerator you have a 24" bubble of units you can attack. It's actually bigger as the template extends outwards from that position. The "shunt" move it performs is great too, it's like deepstriking but without scatter and without rolling after the first turn. It may be worth half of a NDK but it doubles his effectiveness.
