tjdudey
Page 38 - Iron Priests, Servo-armReplace this entry with the following:Range S AP x2 1TypeMelee,Specialist Weapon,Unwieldy Does the change in the FAQ above mean all the iron priests attacks are now S8 AP1, so 3 on the charge? Im thinking an Iron priest on bike with 4 cyberwolves (155pts including a tooth necklace) makes for a pretty good close combat unit. 3x S8 AP1 attacks and 15 S4 Rending attacks on the charge is not to be sniffed at. Or have i misunderstood completely? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/ Share on other sites
Max_Dammit
Its just a powerfist, He has one wound and hits last , so he will be challenged to death, god I hate that rule. Reede
While I certainly did prefer it when it was just an Extra attack, I believe you are correct tjdudey, it now acts as a whole weapon profile. Max also has a point, you'll want to run him with some sort of other character or he will just be getting challenged out, still it's a bit better than a powerfist. that AP1 makes him a vehicle killer in close combat, and now that explodes is on a 7+ its much harder to get there. Leif Bearclaw
It's a specialist weapon, as is the Thunder Hammer he gets as standard. He still gets an additional attack this time for 2 ccws, so 3 normally, 4 on the charge . He also has a 2+ save, giving him reasonable protection from being challenged to death. Not terrible for the points imo, but elites is too busy as it is... Nadir
If it is like another power fist, so now he has got 2 specialist weapons: hammer and servo arm. So he got another attack with could be also a thinder hammer one, for additional spec.weapon:) Still not so good for 1W model Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706191 Share on other sites
tjdudey
I would probably only run it in a double FOC match, or if I was taking Wolf Guard as troops Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706213 Share on other sites
Baulder
I know this was discussed elsewhere, can'#t remember the outcome, but if I remember correctly on a thunderwolf the iron priest will be getting 4*str 10 on the charge. Not too shabby I'd say. Join a wolflord on thunderwolf with 2 fenrisian wolves and you're starting to get a decent sized unit (although wounds are thin on the ground). IP on TWM 4 Cyber WL on TWM with shield 2 Fenrisian Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706291 Share on other sites
Oz of the North
Though if you put him on a thunder wolf, he will be 2 wounds Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706294 Share on other sites
DanPesci
standard guy with a thunder hammer on a thunderwolf comes in cheaper and has 4 S10 attacks does he not also Im thinking an Iron priest on bike with 4 cyberwolves (155pts including a tooth necklace) makes for a pretty good close combat unit. 3x S8 AP1 attacks and 15 S4 Rending attacks on the charge is not to be sniffed at. dont have the codex to hand, but im pretty sure cyberwolves dont get rending, theyre just a slightly tougher version of fenrisian wolves?? tjdudey
i didn't realise that the mount gave you an extra wound. Is it not just +1 attack, strength and toughness? Oz of the North
I am pretty sure that all cyberwolves get is a higher ld and a 4+ save, and a thunderwolf mount gives +1 attack, strength, toughness and wound, along with rending. Wolf lords on mounts are 4 wounds, look at Canis he is 3 wounds when he is not a wolf lord and regular thunderwolves are 2 wounds. Baulder
The codex (pg 62) States that they get the unit type cavalry, +1S, +1T, +1A and rending. No additional wounds that I can see, or did I miss it in the FAQ? You're right on the cyber wolves they have higher leadership too and an additional attack Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706817 Share on other sites
Valerian
No additional Wound for Thunderwolf Mounts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291850-iron-priest-in-faq/#findComment-3706934 Share on other sites
