Better definitely!

Good job, I always find (this sounds embarrassing now! blush.png ) that if you try out the pose you are trying achieve yourself, you get a greater idea if its viable.

Some times its good to listen to other people cos I think it looks better now than in the previous pose.

Still waiting for my bits to turn up. Got some skeletons on order too so I can create some flayed bodies to pin on the carapace. Going to look nasty.

Thanks guys.

I'm still waiting on the bits (slowest mail evar!) but in the meantime I have been accepted in to the ETL! My points won't count because I was late but as part of my oath I will be dedicating this knight to Khorne.

I'll still be using the colours of legio mortis but with a khornate vibe. Could explain the fluff reasons for Come the Apocalypse, my marines don't want to get close for fear of being squashed in a knight titan rampage.

Blood for Blood God! Skulls for the Legio Mortis!

Progress!

Dark mechanicum symbol and I exchanged the heavy stubber for a more chaos looking hades autocannon from the heldrake kit:

I made some khorne/dark mechanicum heraldry in parody of an Imperial Knight:

Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! drool.gif

Lovely! I'm LOVING the idea of Chaos Knights (It think Knight is too 'clean' a word for us guys....we need something a little more dark! devil.gif )

Thanks mate!

I've got a few more bits on order but if I'm honest I think it looks really good as it is. I want to do some more work to the base and will have some marine bodies hanging from various hooks.

In trying to stay away from chaos=spikes/trophy racks with this one as it's not a chaos marine, it's a knight titan, sworn to legio mortis!

Here's the daemon skull from the soul grinder sword, thought it'd make a nice legio mortis icon.

Another update. Plasticard arrows!

The left shoulder pad I'll be keeping clear until after painting as I'm going to use some transfers to create a large legio mortis/dark mechanicum heraldry.

I think I'm approaching the limit of what I want to do via modeling. I tested out some marine bodies on the armour but they looked out of place tbh and I don't want this to become a cluttered mess of chaos symbols and spikes. The next part I'll do is glue some spikes to the top armour plate but I'm still waiting for those bits to arrive so I may just plough ahead with painting and glue those on after.

Painting almost finished!

This marine didn't make it out the rhino in time. Squish.

Heraldry. Not sure if I'm going to keep the hazard stripes. As for the heraldry, I went for a perversion of Imperial knight rather than a daemon knight look. He's still a knight worthy of great deeds but not just what the imperials would call great :D

Thanks guys.

Going to work on some fluff for him tonight and come up with a name. I picture this knight as a kind of chaos freeblade. He's not near daemon knight status yet but has started blazing his own trail of death and destruction with a particular pleasure for dueling imperial knights. While he was sworn in to legio mortis before the heresy, he has since gone his own way, hence the legio mortis colours but individual heraldry. He has dedicated himself to Khorne so had gained martial prowess without the berserker attitude... Yet.

I have my first game using him tonight so will let you guys know what happens. Planning to run him up the board with spawn, maulerfiends and a spartan loaded with terminators. Should be enough to scare the crap out of most armies!

I honestly would love more renegade\chaos titans and knights not possessed. It shows a bit of character when the pilot\s are still in control.

+1

I like daemon engines, I really do but not every vehicle has to be possessed. Marines get to be evil and scary without being Daemons, why not knights and titans?

Funnily enough my friend has cancelled on me tonight claiming that his car had broken down. I like to think he was so scared of my knight he forfeit the match ;)

At least I'll have another night of painting as the wife is out so I can paint interrupted. Next up to paint is the rhino and bifurcated marine then some weathering.

Tally Ho!

I love the heraltry on the knight, especially the use of brass etch on the shield - putting the gearwheel in the centre of the chaos star was an excellent decision and it looks fantastic. The horns are great too, and it has just the right amount of Khornate dedication.

I definitely agree that it's interesting to see a non-possessed knight/titan every so often.

Inspired me to convert my own Knight! Amazing work!

Go for it! I've never had such fun with a single model before. Totally worth it.

Unfortunately I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped last night. Just base coated the rhino in stegadon scale. I put a lot of thought into which chapter to paint it in (even thought about my friends chapter) but I went for my own diy chapter. I had the knight sitting on the coffee table and I saw how imposing the model actually is, especially when lined up against my chaos marines.

Anyway, I will make a final push tonight and get it finished. I'm wary of adding too much paint to it and ruining the look so I think I'll focus on the base and feet, see what it looks like and if I feel something is missing after I've had a break from I can add more.

Can anyone make any suggestions on what to add paint wise, if indeed, it needs anything?

Oh man, this knight just looks all kinds of brutal, especially the way the horns look like some sort of twisted crown - I love it!

Paintwise, I'd probably grime up the metal 'skeleton' just a tiny bit more by running some Agrax earthshade around the hydrolics. But other than that I'd say he was perfect! B)
