jester262
so, with the onset of 7th, vehicles are coming back in style. But what about Rhinos? Think they'll last long enough to actually hold objectives? Or do you think we're gonna see alot of melta coming back and they'll get vaped quick? Thoughts? -Jester Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291927-rhinos/ Share on other sites
logun
it really depends on what your running beside them. i tend to run rhinos with thunder wolves/fen wolves, vindicators and lately a leman russ exterminator . so my rhinos had been surviving in 6th ed anyway. now its just harder to one shot them. target saturation is the key i think. jester262
interesting. Keep them shooting at everything but the rhinos. But once it parks on an objective it would more than likely get shot at next. I've been running foot slogger latley, I may try rhinos again. Reede
My problem with them is they always seemed to be a first blood magnet. While it's nice they won't explode as often now, the fact that they can still be glanced to death by some armies base weapons.... makes it really hard to feel like they can do their job. jester262
yea, that's what I was worried about, especially against the 'crons. So, still looks like out best bet will be to foot slog or drop pod. Thanks, Brothers :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291927-rhinos/#findComment-3707985 Share on other sites

Reede
Very true, the one thing that's at least nice is that if you move up and pivot, even if they do get wrecked they'll provide line-of-sight blocking cover which can be a big boon for that turn they disembark. Still, they have to make it out of deployment which, at least for me, does not happen often enough. alpro
I think your forgetting the best part of them. Yes they may give first blood but the rest of your armies being left alone to do what they want so it's worth that already. Don't forget now that they can score, I use 4, that's 4 additional scoring units on top of the hunters inside. They are so versatile it's brilliant. What I need to confirm is whether they count as troops as they are dedicated transports and as such in 7th I believe they are classed as troops! Baulder
all units can score, plus on bound lists units taken as troops have the objective secured special rule. The dedicated transport section indicates that they count as having the same role as the unit they were brought for all other rule purposes. Therefore, this means if rhino/razor/pods are taken as dedicated transports for your hunters, claws or troopguard then they also have the objective secured special rule. played a game last night and dropped pods on objectives scoring VP on 3 occasions. my tip is put you objectives in the open when you are placing them. This avoids unlucky terrain rolls etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291927-rhinos/#findComment-3708860 Share on other sites

Baulder
Yes for the purpose of all rules they are troops if taken with a unit that falls into that category in the FOC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291927-rhinos/#findComment-3708927 Share on other sites
Sohail187
Tbh u dont really need to worry about giving up first blood as rhinos are plenty more resilient now. Razorbacks also a good option sit on objectives pumping out fire power!!!
