What legion did you choose..and why?

Alpha legion

Since 3rd my favorite legion when I could played them with chaos codex who had AL. Still my favorite, bonus is, I can actually play them in 40k basically how I like, with chaos codex, or any SM codex/chapter. Because who is to say that they would not utilize that kind of strategy if they found it to be most effective way to deal with enemy!
Great fluff+best versatility(codex wise), what's not to like :D ...now if only FW would finally release some upgrade packs...kinda dissapointed with shoulder pads...

The Emperor's Children.

Pre-heresy/Great Crusade era EC have always been my favourite Legion. This little blurb from the FW sight sums up how I imagine the III and why I've decided to finally start my own EC force.

"The III Legion were blessed and honoured above all; granted by the master of Mankind's hand the right to bear the Emperor's own name and his own standard, the Palatine Aquila. The III Legion and Fulgrim the Illuminator, their Primarch, were the embodiment of the Emperor's intentions for the Legiones Astartes - noble in action and aspect, strong, civilised, and excelling in all matters."

If it wasn't for the 'sabotage/accident' that occurred at their inception, I could easily imagine the EC being one of the most successful Legions during the crusade.

Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus...

I have a thing for poster boys, and I really love the lore before Horus ultimately turns.

I think the whole plot of him betraying the Emperor is bogus crap only serving the purpose of creating the setting of 40k. Prior to the betrayal he was a really interesting character - part general, part politician, part humble father figure. After he turned he became your typical power mad, glory hunter.

Aaaanyways, one day I plan ion running a story campaign where Sons of Horus from an alternative reality where they never turned appear in the current Imperium to try and fix things, but are pursued by Loyalist and Heretical forces alike...

Pre-Heresy Emperors Children, purple is a great color and really enjoyed their stories through out the heresy.

40k goes to the Salamanders, some of the last halfway decent people left in the imperium, plus green armor and fire every where is fuuun.

Plus that one line in Helsreach, "For The Emperor And His People!" that sold me 100% on the salamanders, much better than the tome of fire books have so far.

I've collected Wolves from the end of Rogue Trader so no reason to go hunting elsewhere. The change in tone from 2nd Ed to PB wasn't as jarring as I'd expected it to be (given Dan Abnett's heads up blog post before it was released) and I really like some of the new background. Especially Mjod, I'd have thrown an axe if there wasn't some drinking involved.

Salamanders

I've been in love with their fluff since Codex:Armageddon, but I already had my own Chapter scheme sorted so haven't done an army of them (although I have since said my chapter is a successor).

Now, with the call of the Heresy...there was no other choice. Awesome rules and models were just the icing on the cake. Already have a 3k point list to buy towards...now just need funds.

Master smiths, humanitarian, Hammers, drakes, FIRE!

I haven't decided yet, but here is my short list.

- Word Bearers; i hate them for their weakness, but love the Serrated Sun scheme, thhe Gal Vorbak and all of the pretty character models.

- Iron Hands; love the scheme i did Ferrus in. And tanks and bionis are just cool.

- Salamanders; Firedrakes and Vulkan, ace models. If i can find a muted green i like.

- Blood Angels; I just KNOW the models are going to be out of this world pretty. And Sanguinus, my favorite primarch.

Night Lords,

Sevatar 1st captain of the legion: Beacause we are brothers. We've seen primarchs die to blade and fire, and we've seen our actions set the galaxy aflame. we've betrayed others and betrayed in kind. we're bleeding for an uncertain future, fighting a war for the lies our lord tells us. what do we have left, if not bloods loyalty? I am here because you are here. Because we are Brothers

Would of loved to of done night lords, but I can't paint lightning bolts to save my life, tried numerous times and they just look stupid. I'm going with Raven Guard now, they have some good characters that have developed out of the novels and their rules are pretty badass to.

I've changed my mind so many times over the past year and a half, the only certainty was that they had to be loyal (and not Word Bearers) finally made up my mind...

Death Guard... All going to be in MkIII and Cataphractii terminator armour, with the Death Lord himself leading from the front

I shall build them.

After years of 40k absence I've just decided to get back into it and it has to be the Night Lords for me. Easy Choice.

1) Very striking colour scheme.

2) Sevatar.

3) Amazing background. Far more in depth and in my opinion more interesting than many of the other Legions.

4) No slavish demon worship. Totally driven by their own motivations. Makes them more interesting.

5) Did I mention Sevatar?
