Imperial Fists Veterans

I've come to the realization that I really like veterans and big tanks, so here's a list using both! The bad thing is these kind of lists tend to be outnumbered and outgunned.

Fistwing 2000

HQ 270

Praetor 175
-Terminator Armour
-Paragon Blade
-Iron Halo

-Teleportation Transponder

-Pride of the Legion.

Chaplain 95
-Artificer Armour

Troops 1455

Terminator Squad (5) 485
-3x Lighting Claws
-Assault cannon
-Land Raider Phobos

Terminator Squad (5) 485
-4x Lighting Claws
-Land Raider Phobos

Terminator Squad (5) 250
-3x Lighting Claws
-Assault cannon
-Teleportation Transponder

Terminator Squad (5) 235
-4x Lighting Claws

Fast Attack 50

Attack Bike 50
-MultiMelta

Heavy Support 230

Whirlwind Scorpius 115

Whirlwind Scorpius 115

Everyone has pair of lighting claws, sgts have power sword and combi-bolter, maybe I should drop the chaplain and foot slogging terminators but I got no idea what for.

I have a question, is it possible to run a HH list without the legion specific rules? Is there a generic set of rules I can use? I heard of one but I cant find anything on the actual book so maybe Im blind or its pure rumors.

Thanks!

Well, another alternative would be Templar Squads and Sigismund (since they're 1st company - which are the vets) if you need more bodies on the table since you can stuff em into rhinos instead of LR's for 5 terminators.

Alternatively you could make a deathstar-esque unit with 19 Templar's and Sigismund and Stuff em in a Spartan and back those up appropriately.

Although this is more speculation on my part since I've yet to purchase extermination / get many games of 30k under my belt yet.

The 1 attack bike with MM also seems REALLY random and out of place in the list, but I can see that you were going for mobile anti-armor with it, it's just that most of the tanks you'd want to MM will most likely have Armored Ceramite negates the effectiveness of the MM.

I would also just stick some of the terminators in bigger squads to save points and just use Alexis Polux to deep strike a unit instead of paying the points, and he's really awesome to boot.

Why not some vigil shields too for an assault unit?

Where does the chaplain go? He doesn't fit in the land raiders and he doesn't have a teleporter. How are the other 5 terminators supposed to get across the board without a transport or deep strike?

I think you should get rid of the 2 land raiders and group the ten terminators together and put them into a spartan or deep strike them. If you do the latter, maybe take a recon squad with a nuncio vox so that the termie squad doesn't scatter.

What's your plan to deal with other 2+ save units?

If you want some Anti-Tank, perhaps ditch the Multi-Melta attack bike, and find some points elsewhere to have a couple of individual Rapiers with Laser Destrpyer Arrays. 55 pts each and they laugh in the face of Armoured Ceramite. They have done good by me for a long time.

After much thought in the pain glove I've decided to use Bastions instead of Land Raiders to move the troops around, it pains me to have not a single huge tank but I think it works:

Fistwing 1965

HQ 410

Praetor 165
-Terminator Armour
-Paragon Blade
-Iron Halo

Terminator Command Squad (4) 245
-3x Pair of Lighting Claws
-Legion Standard
-Plasma Blaster, Power fist

Troops 780

Terminator Squad (5) 240
-3x Pair of Lighting Claws
-Sgt Combi bolter,Power Sword
-Plasma Blaster, Power fist

Terminator Squad (5) 240
-3x Pair of Lighting Claws
-Sgt Combi bolter,Power Sword
-Plasma Blaster, Power fist

Veteran Tactical Squad (5) 150
-Missile Launcher

Veteran Tactical Squad (5) 150
-Missile Launcher

Heavy Support 405

Vindicator 145
-PotMS

Vindicator 145
-PotMS

Whirlwind Scorpius 115

Fortifications 370

Imperial Strongpoint 370

Aegis Defence Line 50

2x Imperial Bastion 320
-Escape Hatch
-Icarus Lascannon
-Void Shield

The plan is to put the Escape hatches in no man's land and as close to the enemy deployment zone as possible, terminators would use it to close in with the enemy.

I also found out there was a 'generic' or unlisted legion astartes, which I think would benefit my wallet and the army list so they all have Furious Charge instead of the IF special rules.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
