Purifiers>Cleansing Flame>Nova

If you have 2 combat squads in a Rhino, does each "squad" get the fire 2 weapons from the fire point? Or is it only 2 weapons in toto may fire regardless of the number of units embarked?

SJ

I finally had a chance to look this up, and it is the latter, "a single passenger can fire out of each Fire Point and the other transported models cannot fire."  (page 80 The Rules).  Since it is a single passenger per fire point, it doesn't matter if multiple units (i.e. combat squads) happen to be embarked.  It could be two guys shooting from one of the combat squads, or one guy from each, but the limit is clearly two total guys firing, in the case of a Rhino.

Except using psychic powers (even witchfires) isn't considered firing a weapon, so you can still fire both psycannons out of the top hatch in the subsequent Shooting phase. Kinda a non-issue, even a single fire point still lets you use your witchfire powers.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a feeling GW will forbid all but actual witchfire from getting fired. 'Cleansing Flame' is already absurd, if they let you mech with it I can already hear the moans of horde players about 'Knights are imba!!!'.

Yeah, I wasn't disputing that part.  In fact, I didn't even mention Psychic Powers at all, just Shooting, as SJ was tying to determine whether you could fire two weapons from each of the two combat squads (i,e, 4 total Psycannon from a combat squadded Purifier unit).  You can't though.

If using a Psychic power isn't considered firing a weapon, could you use a Nova after moving flat out?

Flat Out moves are taken in the Shooting phase, and the Psychic Phase precedes that, so no - won't work.

Oh no of course not that. Fire points are very clear, its always models.

But you could Nova then Flat Out?

Our own JSJ.

Move Rhino.  Nova.  Flat out, out of LoS/behind Cover.

Retreat? I don't think you know how to Purifier ;) when in doubt, jam them deeper into enemy lines. We aint no pansy Tau.

So if the rhino moves 12" in the movement phase. Cleansing flame can be used as a snap shot? Can witchfires be snap shot? Or at least witchfires that don't require rolls to hit, like a template one? I'm not with my rulebook right now.
I know nova is a horde sweeper. But I had 2 games against a chaos marine player today. It's practically useless haha. Be better off using your dice on hammerhand :-P. Kinda a no brainer. But I thought I'd try it out. With no success haha.

Yeah, it won't do too much against MEQ.  Average of 7 hits on 2d6 to a unit, Wounds on 3+, so 4 or 5 Wounding Hits, and they save on 3+, so you might kill 1 or two, which is underwhelming for a WC2 power.  It does have Soul Blaze, though, so there is a chance of killing more in the next turn.  However, as you noted, you'd be much, much, better off spending an extra WC to ensure your Hammerhand gets through against MEQ.
