Well, I took the silly risk to vow in ETL III.

It's not enough that the ETL is getting 99% of my online time, now it has to take some of my offline time too - at a period when my real time job becomes increasingly more demanding.

So moaning aside this is what I vowed:

I Captain Semper, the Master of Recruits, vow to complete a Squad of five DW Knights with Perfidious Relic for 245 pts before August 1st. Success will bring eternal glory to the Unforgiven and failure will doom me to wear the badge of the Oath Breaker until year end!

He looks awesome, CPT Semper. I'm not sure he has deep enough black for me to really tell that he's a DoC, but the piece is great!

 

I like the mace, but I feel like the grip could have more depth to it.

 

However, I really like the shield and the tabard portion looks great. All the little bling pieces look nice but understated.

 

Why does he have two little red lights above his butt...?

@ Elmo: I either use massive voodoo or these from Corvus miniatures. In this case it's the blue background from Corvus. :)

 

@ Bryan: I'm afraid the handle may be a victim of poor photography - I have put three colours and a wash on it! :lol: As for the red lights, well, they serve as the cars red lights in the night... If you are in the Space Hulk it may be handy to see the guy in front of you... ;)

You're right... The bases are in the post - I can't trust the post to deliver on time - or my schedule that when they do I'll have the time to paint them before the ETL is over... But I will eventually. smile.png

The magic of black robes over white...

 

When I was thinking how to go about it with the DoCs back in 2011, I thought that for PA troops, a white robe would make them indistinquishable to DAs. As such I opted for the black a bit influenced by the depiction of Oprichnia in Eisenstein's "Ivan the Terrible", as they DoCs are more secret police in my mind than warriors.

 

Regardless, the end result is indeed dark - but I also think fitting for this purpose-built Chapter... :)
