Malus Trux
I was wondering do Mordians paint their tanks with the same mindset as they make their uniforms? I know they live on a planet of perpetual night so brightly colored uniforms became the norm so they could see each other more clearly but do they do the same with their vehicles? The only official artwork I found with a Mordian vehicle was a squad running out of a chimera but it wasn't painted blue like their uniforms. I'm color blind so I couldn't tell you what color it was but I can tell you what it wasn't. Probably green or brown. So simply put would other Mordian tanks be like this or would they go for the bold colors? WarriorFish
That is a very good question! Mordian stuff is so focused on the infantry that the armour never gets any attention. I think you're right on the difference between the troops and vehicles, they wouldn't be in bright colours. I seem to remember once seeing a Mordian vehicle in a darker grey but can't be sure if this was official or not? It certainly seems like an appropriate colour for the regiment, both attitude and planet wise. our_baz
I cant remember ever seeing a tank from a Mordian regiment. There's nothing in the old 2nd IG codex from the time they were first released. I would agree with warriorfish, a rather dour colour scheme black / dark grey would suit. Nicodemus Doloroso
5th Edition Codex: Imperial Guard, page 86 has a Mordian Hellhound and it's black, with blue and yellow regimental stripes near the front. EDIT: fixed a typo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292264-mordian-tank-schemes/#findComment-3714486 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
... black is technically a darker grey right? :P Good spot Nico, mystery solved! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292264-mordian-tank-schemes/#findComment-3714519 Share on other sites
Malus Trux
Thanks for the answer Nico & thanks our_baz & WarriorFish for the dark gray suggestions. I think I might do a bit of gray striping for some camo. Malus Trux
I had a chance to look through Imperial Armor 1 second edition & they had a few more examples in it. Turns out Mordians don't use camo patterns & on super heavies they don't include the regimental stripes but I like the idea so I went ahead & included them anyways. Here is my Shadowsword. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/ShadowSword1_zps0f72a22b.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292264-mordian-tank-schemes/#findComment-3722556 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Very nice Malus, thanks for showing us - do you have any more pictures? One is not enough, certainly not of a super heavy! WarriorFish
I like the mottled colouring, and the text addition is always nice - makes me want to get my Shadowsword box opened but I'll need to be good and finish ETL duties :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292264-mordian-tank-schemes/#findComment-3722884 Share on other sites
Malus Trux
Why not both? A Shadowsword pledged is a Shadowsword soon painted. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292264-mordian-tank-schemes/#findComment-3723049 Share on other sites
