emperors children Phoenician helmet

I have read a few places on the web that these helmets were only used for vets or as honor markings but can't find any more reference to this in books. Is this actually stated anywhere or can anyone shed any more light on armor variations in general during the heresy?

Thanks

It depends on your artificer I think.

I'm doing eidolons command company so although expensive, il probably deck out the majority of my mk4s with helmets, and a splash of mk4 boddies as well, so jetbikes will have heads, bods and pads because well.. They are made of awesome with our row :-)

The only time I've seen the helm specifically mentioned is in Betrayal, and all that it says is that it's a "Emperor's Children Legion unique variant awarded as a badge of valour."

I bought 2 sets to spread between three veteran squads and a command squad. A whole unit with 'Phoenician' helms would look amazing though.

I was planning on giving them to the whole army since I bought collected visions all those years ago I fell in love with all of the different legion specific armor marks and they were my favorite. Hmm maybe I should be saving them purely for vet squads.

I feel that it would be fair and fluffy to have a few (1 or 2 per squad) in your basic line infantry and then go wild with 6-9 in your vet squads and dispersed equally among specialists like apothecaries and centurions. I think this would convey the feeling you want without (Imo.) diminishing the impact the helms will have.
