Emperors Immortals
Ha! That's the Woolfy spirit! It's exactly the attitude GW should promote. You guys should be able to stand alone, preferably down wind. ;p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292415-a-codex-you-might-envy/page/2/#findComment-3718979 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
BA are ork wannabes(everything is red & they go faster) I almost shot beer out my nose when I read this. It's too true. Plus I like your point I love my wolves though they do on occasion team up with my guardsman, like you said they need saving sometimes. Fray
I'm actually a Dark Angel player who's looking to make the switch to either Blood Angels or Space Wolves (and having a very difficult time deciding lol!). So, what I would miss: The models - Specifically the jetfighter and the Deathwing, as the sculpts are rather nice. The paint schemes! - While everyone's free to paint their toy men however they please, I personally prefer to stick to the reference chapter schemes and the dark green + cream + red + black of the DA's kinda looks better than the usual dull grey that I see many Wolves players use. Totally a personal preference thing obviously... The rules - Command squads can be handy, Ravenwing BK grenades are sweet, Deathwing Assault and Vengeful Strike (pick your deep strike turn + twin linked shooting) are nice too. Oh, 4++ bubbles and super Land Raiders are pretty awesome. I guess also having the option to do battleforged full termie or bike lists but that's never really been my thing. I think that's about it for Dark Angels. Other than the 6th Ed point discounts, it's really just a couple models and some "flavour" rules imo. Now, if I were to compare Wolves to C:SM though...the sheer variety of choices available to C:SM are something to envy. While Wolves get a pretty good selection of ways to equip individual squads or characters, C:SM is downright spoiled with unit / character selections. There's what, 18 different HQ choices available to a C:SM list? Plus the fliers, attack bikes in their own squads, the new tanks, thunderfires, scout bikes (I've never actually seen them used though), Landspeeder Storms to ferry the scouts, Ironclads, LotD...makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop flipping through that codex lol! Sure, you can draw similarities between units like Wolf Guard to Sternguard / Vanguard / Terminators but it's not quite the same. Hopefully they'll flesh-out the eventual SW codex though (and obviously there'll be the obligatory points adjustments). Vash113
As a Space Wolf there's nothing I particularly like in the DA Codex over the SW one. For my Imperial Fists it's another story, I like the plasma armed heavy land speeder, I like Terminators as Troops, I like mixed Terminator Squads, Deathwing Knights, Termy Plasma Cannons and Terminator Command Squads. I even like the more heavily armed Ravenwing Knights and their grenade launchers. So my Fists 1st Company is represented with the Dark Angels rules, but not the rest of the army, and certainly none of those things interest my Space Wolves in the slightest. Prot
That's a really interesting answer that surprises me. That being said I can't imagine anyone wanting the DA Plasma Cannon Speeder. AV10, if it Jinks, it can't fire. It's probably the only unit in the codex I refuse to use. But if you're saying "My wolves have it all and envy no one" I can understand that.
