“It is a sad thing. To see Faith so mercilessly mocked by those it means to protect…”

“And, lo, upon pinions of Flame, the Angels did descend, but they were not Angels. They were Daemons, cloaked in Angelic form, and Chaos followed in their footsteps.”

-The Chronicles of Utnapish 23:42

I will not die here. I will not die to the Ultramarines hammer, nor the slow decline that will take us in the Dark beneath the doomed world. The Gods have plans for me. Car’gaud has promised me this. The emotionless faceplate of the Ultramarine is lit by the arcing lightning of his hammer, twisting the polished metal into snarls that remind me of He’muis and his Dark Brethren. He’s speaking, I can hear that much. Calling me a thrice born traitor, a bastard of the lowest form. I swears he will kill me. I laugh at this. I do not die here. I die in the shadows of a Palace, torn to pieces by those I once called brother. No Fidelitas of Talassar, I do not fall to you today. I do not tell him this, I cannot, despite my death being foretold, the Pantheon has a cruel sense of humor, and this Captain is incredibly skilled. It takes all my focus to simply survive the onslaught. I hate him. The Ultramarine, I mean. His armor is clean, the blue the color of my mother’s eyes, before her death at Monarchia, the gold, shining like the coin paid to whore. Everything about him disgusts me, and I want him dead.

Sarkrin Risti leapt forward his claws splayed out, lightning crackling between the fingers, a curse upon his lips. The Ultramrine weaves effortlessly, avoiding death by a millimeter, but delivers a kick to the Word Bearers side knocking him aside.  Around the two, their men fight for their lives, the roar of Bolters and the scream of Chainblades a symphony of destruction, punctuating the two titans strikes.

“I will have your head Sarkrin! I will not forget this base treachery! You-“ He doesn’t finish the sentence, backpedaling as Risti drags him into the mud, his cloak, once a bright scarlet, now a muddy black. Risti is berserk, clawing at the Captain’s masterfully wrought armor. Fidelitas mag dumps his pistol into the chest of the Word Bearer, knocking him back.

He’s on top of me now, hammering his fist into my face, spiderwebbing my helm. I can barely move…I’m tired…”Car’guad, Car’guad, where are you? “ I manage to take off his helm with a flailing claw, tracing a deep welt across his cheek.  He is young, much younger than I anticipated considering the reputation he carries. I feel the aether thinning, and wet droplets of something warm begin to spatter my face. “Sarkrin, I am coming for you, The Bloody One is being birthed as we speak. Hold on brother!” I am trying. Trying to hold on. The Ultramarine has his gladius out now, I laugh. I do not die-the blade stabs through my reinforced armor, and plunges into the rockcrete below. It is not pleasant. I can tell he intends to finish the job when a rumbling cry of pure rage rings out. Impossible slow I turn my head, and I see an Avatar of the Pantheon, clad in Brass and Scarlet bellowing at the sky. It wears a cloak of helms that range from battered MKII patterns to archaic pith helms that look millennia old. The Ultramarine sees this and stands, hammer in hand, a look of determination upon his regal features. He strides forward, the hammer crackling in two hands. I am aware of hands upon my plate, dragging me towards a pulsating rift that calls to me, promising me the allure of peace. My last vision before I pass out is of Fidelitas swinging his hammer right into the Daemon, axe meeting hammer…

Deployed to counter the siege aspects of the 129th, Captain Risti would attempt to take the Delras Arcology for over 15 days, inflicting heavy casualties on the 129th company and her auxiliaries. On the 15th day, a counter attack personally spearheaded by Luciel Fidelitas himself slammed into the Company as it mustered for another strike. The lightning raid, so typical of the 6th, caught the Word Bearers unaware and forced a rout of the survivors. Of the 200 men of 6th company, about 50 managed to escape the ambush and Calth, allegedly due to the machinations of the company's Chaplain Car'guad Silvertongue. It is believed that the survivors continued to harass Ultramar, before being reported as destroyed during the scouring. Despite these claims by the Shattered Sons, a warband of the XVII has been spotted on multiple occasions led by a lord with two claws....

That's right folks, it's habbening, I'm doing Word Bearers. I decided my Ultramarines needed an Antagonist and I was originally going to do Sons of Horus, the Word Bearers upgrade kits drew me in. Lemme know what you think!

5 Years before Calth

Kalem had never seen the stars. Not until the Angels came. He grew up on a world perpetually in cloud cover, drowning the world in the tears of the Old Gods, or that's what was said in the books he read in class. They spoke of Daemons and Angels, and of wars fought in the stars(Of which he had never seen of course.) and how the Angels defended us from the Daemons. This was the core tenant of Kalems belief until the day in Grul, when the Heavens burned and the Angels arrived. Kalem distinctly recalled the scream of their wings, and the burning heat as those around him were incinerated. At their head stood a man, his beard the color of Ice, his eyes a piercing blue. In one hand he clutched a massive maul, the other was clenched into fist. He scared Kalem, but when he spoke, it was like a rich honey: slow ,but smooth, with a hint of an accent. "Spare the children, they will make valuable candidates for implantation." He turned to Kalem, smiling like a doting grandfather. "Kill the rest. They worship false Idols. Burn them." And as his community burned and Kalem was herded into the maw of a roaring beast, he realized there were no Angels, only Daemons.

Aboard the the Diadem Mantle, Car'guad surveyed the water world beneath him. Captain Risti stood at his side, arms folded over his chest. The two men had just received word of the orders to return to Aurelian and were eager to wrap up the campaign.

"The Betrayal comes to a head my friend..."

Car'guath nodded, "Aye, it is time the Pantheon comes to the the light it so deserves. The Emperor will realize his folly and man will ascend to a new state."

He looked to Risti and smiled at his pupil." I am glad you stand by my side my son.  I recall taking you from your family on Colchis. Many of our aspirants are wary, or weep. You simply smiled, and told me you were read to preach the Word. It was then I knew you would go onto greater things."

Risti smiled, the gesture making the ink across his face dance. "I was proud to serve Aurelian. It is all I desire. " He looked to the planet again, a smirk upon his face. "Weapons master, prime atomic warheads. Let's watch the Heathens burn..."

As the planet burned, it's oceans vaporizing, and broiling the inhabitants, Car'guath murmured something he'd read many, many years before on Macragge.

"I am become Death, Destroyer of Worlds."

Assault Trooper Kalem is one of the 6th company's line troopers whose first engagement was at the Dropsite Massacre where the 6th tore into the Salamnders in the Trisis Chasms. He was commended by Captain Risti after his extended bought of combat with Drake Paladin Korfe. During the Calth deployment Kalem and his oath brother Hectus would be the personal escort for Car'guath, ensuring the Chaplain managed to evade harm. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Hectus is from the same water world as Kalem, and is one of the few survivors of the day the planet was put to the sword. A mediocre warrior, Hectus had done little to make a name for himself among the company and his assignment to bodyguard of Cor'guath  was quite a surprise. Hectus was presumed dead after Sergeant Claudius put a plasma bolt through his chest, but rumors persist the "thinblood" still lives.

Sinner. Saint. Daemon. All these words have been used to refer to Car'guath Silvertongue, the Desecrator of Helixis and scourge of Sextus. Born on Colchis, Car'guath was one of the the very first Colchisian aspirants accepted into the legion. From here his zealotry and way with words not only earned him his nickname, but also a place amongst the Chaplain Brotherhood. Eventually joining the 6th company with his pupil Captain Risti, Car'guath would be instrumental in the survival of the 6th during Calth. His deft skill with sorcery and summonings helped hold off the Ultramarines 129th company allowing for a portion of the unit to escape back to the Diadem Mantle. Car'guath is an Alpha priority target but so far every agent sent after him has returned in pieces.

Awesome start, Vazzy. Really nice color on the first fella and the fluff is a treat. I'm looking forward to seeing this develop. smile.png

Thanks Darth, Kalem is the same color, I was just too lazy to take a proper picture. I'll get a better one tomorrow. I'm glad you like it!

If anyone sees anything worth fixing, I'm all ears! I already noticed I missed the soft armor in the arm pit.

How was bike assembly? I have six waiting for work to be done, I just haven't gotten the push I need to build them! But I honestly cannot wait to start on them. Maybe this coming weekend.

Otherwise beautiful work!

Really easy. Magnetizing them is also super simple. The other nice thing is is that the riders pop on and off so easy to seperate for painting as demonstrated above
